Glasgow Rangers bidding to sign clutch of Newcastle United fringe players on deadline day

Glasgow Rangers are hoping to tie up a multiple loan deal for a clutch of Newcastle United fringe players on deadline day.

The Ibrox club are eager to bolster their squad in order to keep a tight grip on the Scottish Championship play-off spot they are currently occupying.

With Hearts the runaway leaders, Rangers’ hopes of promotion will go up in smoke if they slip out of second place with Hibernian breathing down their neck.

Now Rangers hope to sign some of United’s fringe players which could see the likes of Haris Vuckic, Gael Bigirimana and Kevin Mbabu going north of the border.

Today is the last day that international loan deals can be completed and that includes moves to Scotland.

I haven't a clue about these players, but I'm sure they'll be better than what we have at the moment.

Haris Vuckic ... attacking midfielder, 22, Slovenian u17, 18, 21 plus 1 cap for Slovenia

On 16 January 2009, it was confirmed that Vučkić would sign for Premier League side Newcastle United for a substantial fee and signed a three and a half year deal at St. James' Park. He is regarded as one of Europe's brightest talents and reports suggest he underwent a trial at AC Milan

Gaël Bigirimana ... midfielder, 21, England u20

On 6 July 2012, Bigirimana signed for Premier League club Newcastle United.[7] United's website confirmed Bigirimana had signed a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee, believed to be between £500,000 and £1,000,000.

Kevin Mbabu ... defender, 19, Swiss u16, 17, 18, 19s

After a successful trial, Mbabu signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle United, moving for an undisclosed fee on 31 January 2013

Having watched a few of the Newcastle U20s games on Sky - I have been impressed with Vuckic (he has been capped by Slovenia) and it seems that Bigirimana was highly rated but fell out of favour.

Let me be clear though - I would only be taking them if no wages were being paid - and we had an option to sign them.

Also - why did we not bring them in before Sunday?

The fees being the remaining quarter of Rangers Retail and the other half of the shirt sponsorship?
