Depends on the club they will manage. Rangers is far too big a job for a first time manager. Although Smith and Souness were if I remember right.

Difficult to tell if they were successful because of their knowledge or because of the size of the chequebook they got.

Souness far outspent everyone else in Scotland as did Smith. Smith, like or loathe his tactics, proved successful in his second stint when on an even keel with Celtic financially (probably less than them actually).

He's working his notice. They certainly don't need to offer him anything. And won't

They don't need to offer him the job, granted, but whether they actually will is pure conjecture - you think it is a foregone conclusion, perhaps McDowell sees it differently? It might not even be sensible (who can really say) but people are often overwhelmed by optimism and ego.

So the point is not whether they will, it's whether he believes there's a chance they will.

Rangers caretaker manager Kenny McDowall tells the media all 5 Newcastle loan players must play every game if fit.

That instruction has come from Derek Llambias and Sandy Easdale. Kenny McDowall confirmed he had no say in the signings

He sounds happy enough with the decision, and let's face it,he's woeful at team selection.so onwards and upwards.:rfcbouncy:
