Kenny McDowall - No quick fix

Recommended Posts

beter to ask what makes a weekly wage. ability skill of course it does.

you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

as for only needing to outspend them to win of course not.

but beating them with a quarter of their wage bill will be incredibly hard and will happen 1 year in 20,

Our first team at the start of this season with the right, coaching, training and motivation should have been more than capable of matching Celtic

Look at Aberdeen we're probably spending a helluva lot more than them but they still have kept pace with Celtic

It will take 10 years or 100 million to undo the damage greenco have done to us and continue to do.

It's been demonstrated many times that a club with a bit of investment and a decent new manager can be dramatically turned around in a year or two. We've done it with Wallace and Souness, Celtic did it with Stein and O'Neil, then we did it again with Smith. Hearts are looking dramatically different in less than a year too. And there's plenty of other examples.

In today's Scotland it's far, far easier for the likes of Rangers to at least get back up to second place within a year.

The opposite is also true, a well run club can come off the rails in just one year. Most clubs spend more than they earn, and so the only infrastructure that is truly invested in for the future, is the stadium and training ground. Something we still have, albeit in need of refurbishment.

smith did it by taking us from 6 million in debt to 49 million and buying 4 million pound players. souness bought half the england squad. stein and wallace were 40 years ago. oneil took advantage of a weak rangers and i expect had comfortably scotlands biggest budget.

as i say 100 million or 10 years.

we will finish 2nd no problem with our current budget. but winning will require funding tripple it.

aberdeen will finish 2nd.

We don't look like finishing 2nd in the Championship, never mind the premiership....

Aberdeen don't have that special player that can turn matches, we have a number of players in our squad just now that can do that. But for whatever reason they are just not motivated.

It would befit a Rangers supporter not to hurl that kind of abuse at a Rangers employee. Certain people have dragged our name deep enough into the gutter, McDowall ain't one of them. He is not up to his job(s) at Ibrox, but "simpletons" do not end up there in the first place. I doubt that you can fly a Harrier jump jet, but I would not call you a simpleton if you fail when trying.

Of course they can

the boardroom was riddled with them.

If, as expected, we are the Championship again next season, then we must try and turn this into a positive by ensuring our players are drilled week in week out to perform at a high level so that they are prepared for when we do go up next season.

Next season, keep ticket prices at a reasonable level - reduce them if possible - fill the stadium as much as possible and start to creat a more positive atmos at games. This can also be helped by performances on the pitch.

Really ? So potentially deny the club even more revenue ?

I would have thought that Ibrox would be bouncing with 45,000+ now that we have Bluenoses in charge, at least in the short-term - that would be the ideal time to INCREASE prices, not reduce them. Maybe I'm in cuckoo land though.

A high wage bill does not equal a good team. We have the 2nd highest wage bill in Scotland, do we have the 2nd best team?

Its more about getting the right players at the right price....

Exactly. And on the right type of contract too. Incentivise them to play well - lower base (tricky one admittedly as players prefer security) but higher win bonuses, scoring bonuses, clean sheet bonuses, pay as you play bonuses etc. It incentivizes players to be picked and performing well.
