Dave King Press Conference 8th June 2015

things will only calm once the merits of their actions can be clearly measured. the calibre of manager and the standard of the first few signings will tell all. The sooner they get it over with the better for us fans

Undoubtedly so. But everyone's impatient and it was becoming apparent that keeping schtum until the new manager's signed on the dotted line wasn't sufficient. Of course, now we've found out there's nothing to report, everyone's response has been 'what's the point of that?'

I'm as guilty: I want a manager in place yesterday and seven quality signings this morning.

Knowing who the managers in question are would either have worried me more or eased my fears a little (or....lets see - who are the contenders? Greig, Walter, Souness, Advocaat (doubt he'd know our price range), McCoist, McDowell, McCall = who out of those would be encouraging???)..

The comment without specifying who led to my feeling of discouragement as I've learnt that with Rangers it is never wise to look optimistically on any ambiguity as not only is it usually the worst of all seeming options but we usually unearth a hitherto unimaginable and far more deleterious option and that's the one it turns out to be.

I thought it was pretty clear we need to be distancing ourselves from the past, getting away from the involvement of all the 9IAR types, because quite frankly our clubs is in bits with a prehistoric ethos. I want Walter, McCoist, McLeish etc to have nothing whatsoever to do with our future.

Today was really more about launching the sale of Season Tickets than about King's presser, but King had very little option other than to hold a presser even although he had very little to report because if he hadn't held it folk would be screaming that they wanted to hear from him. As others have said on the thread here already, he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't.

Thanks to Frankie for the updates.

Since he's been in the country for only a day or so, I was not expecting any managerial announcement today. I would expect that those in the running will be met within the next few days and I would not be surprised if Walter will be amongst those giving an expert advice on each. IMHO, it is a clever move, as Sir Walter sure knows what is to be expected of a Rangers manager inside out and for King to have such a person will be invaluable. The sooner this important managerial issue is resolved, the better, as it will go a long way to reestablish the links between the support and the club. A bit more communication would be required still, e.g. where any money received from the fans will end up, as e.g. opposed to other investments.

I thought it was already stated (more than once) that Walter will be involved in that capacity,

only thing i would argue is its of his own making. The time frame is completely in his control.

Would have been a far better marketing idea to announce the manager and season ticket sales on the same day. For me should have happened at NARSA. Could have caused a small stir and got fans and wallets raring to go .

Well Walter is having input on the managers position and "previous managers" have been identifying potential signings, so it will not be "nothing whatsoever". Of course the new manager could ignore the player recommendations altogether - if he has time to do so.
