Hibs reject bid for Scott Allan

Recommended Posts

As pointed out above (more credible sources than the DR), our initial offer was 250k, as opposed to some quoted figures. IMHO, 400 to 500k is the maximum. Maybe we can offer them a healthy sell-on clause.

It was well short of £250k.

Guy playing for a Scottish Championsip side who is out of contract at the end of the season, would be madness to pay anything like £400K for him. We ca get home for hehaw at end of season or very little in January.

Manager Alan Stubbs has urged Scott Allan to bide his time with Hibernian then aim for England's Premier League.

Hibs have rejected a £175,000 offer from Rangers for the 23-year-old midfielder, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract.

"He'll have plenty of top offers come the end of the season," said Stubbs.

"I fully believe he can play in the Premier League in England. That's how highly I rate him. He's got a year left to do well."

Allan has already had a taste of England's top flight, having moved to West Brom from Dundee United in 2012.

However, he did not make a single appearance for the Baggies, spending his two seasons south of the border on loan in the lower divisions.

On returning to Scotland, Allan excelled for Hibs in the Championship last season and the Easter Road side are anxious to retain him for another bid at promotion, accepting that he will not sign a new deal.

If it was the other way round, no matter how good he was, i would be saying get rid.

Hibs are in a no win situation and have handled it wrong, see Stubb's comments re the player going to EPL next year.
