New rangers top.

A lot will be based on the existing court actions to decide whether some contracts remain valid.

As such may not be until next year at the earliest before we see some sort of solution.

Why is it taking so long for king to work out a deal with Ashley regarding our new top?

Simply put.....SD are under no obligation to change the current deal - especially if it benefits them.

Things may change depending on the outcome of the various ongoing court cases, but for now, all DK can really do is try & persuade SD to change the contract.

I doubt that the court action in itself would have any impact on the deal as, IIRC, none of those being charged were in place when the current deal was signed.

Wasn't the retail joint venture announced in August 2012?

Wasn't the retail joint venture announced in August 2012?

Was a new agreement not signed last year when SD gave up the naming rights? Presumably it would be a totally new agreement as I got the feeling that there were a few areas which SD wanted tightened up. the wording of the statements suggested to me that it was a new agreement as well.

The Board of Rangers is pleased to announce that Rangers Football Club Limited has entered into a partnership marketing agreement with SportsDirect.com Retail Limited in which Sports Direct has given up its naming rights to the Ibrox Stadium.

"The agreement consolidates existing marketing arrangements between the parties and results in a more normalised retail joint venture marketing arrangement, in which Sports Direct will continue to have certain advertising rights."

Rangers executive chairman David Somers said: "This agreement has been concluded to demonstrate the importance both parties place on our relationship.

"The Rangers board welcomes this visible demonstration of the Sports Direct support and long term commitment to Rangers."

Sandy Easdale, chairman of the Rangers football board, said: "It's a fantastic step forward for Glasgow Rangers to get the naming rights back."
