'Blade Runner' Pistorius found guilty of murder on appeal

Recommended Posts

I never understood the convoluted and perverse ruling in the trial as it always seemed obvious to me (a) that Pretorius knew or ought to have known or forseen the possibility that Steenkamp was in the toilet rather than lying beside him on the bed and (b) that firing four shots through a closed door risked the possibility that he would kill whoever was behind that door. Therefore "Dolus eventualis" which refers to whether a person foresees the possibility that his or her action will cause death but carries on regardless was proven and he should have been found guilty of murder.

In fact I have always believed that he deliberately waited till she went to the toilet to shoot her and the whole burglar thing was a cock and bull story.

In today's ruling, Justice Lorimer Leach said the identity of the person behind the door was irrelevant, the BBC reports.

The fact that Pistorius armed himself with a high-calibre weapon and shot into a small toilet cubicle showed he must have foreseen that the person might die.

I hope he gets locked up for the maximum 15 years.
