RIFC v Sports Direct: No contempt of court - injuction to be discussed in January

Recommended Posts

My guess is they were hoping the judge would award them costs. Prising that out of Ashley would maybe take a while so they held back £500K to cover their costs. Since the judge hasn't awarded costs they'll just have to cough up now

It wouldn't work like that. They would need to be separate transactions, and there's no point in paying off part of the loan, as the only benefit comes when they pay it all off.

I doubt it's got anything to do with costs.

They told the Support/shareholders it was paid off.

Trust is not to be played with, especially after the last few years.

They didn't tell us it was paid off merely that they were going to.

It was the QC who said it was paid off, King should have corrected him.

It was sloppy and self-harming, two traits that should now be in the past.

No doubt we'll now have to pay the largely ineffective Traynor & Co to draft statement to correct the misconception.

Which should be interpreted as getting commitment, within an hour, for the needed funds. You still then have to wait for the funds to be transferred - which also could mean people having to crytstallise non-cash assets.

It isn't necessarily as black and white as you suggest pete.

The only thing I know about money Craig is that the wife spends it.:D

Yeah, even if King didn't get the chance to put the words in his QC's ear as his QC was presenting - at the first opportunity (and there would have been some) he should have had his QC correct the statement.

Not a big deal in all fairness, but we fans have come to desire absolute, complete honesty (which we should).

Sloppy and self-harming are appropriate words. Far too often, we provide the enemies of our club, with the ammunition to fire at us. By this time in the day, some explanation for the confusion that has arisen, should have been offered.

@STVGrant: Rangers spokesman on SD loan: "Matter is in hand, the money is there. There is a commitment for a bank transfer for the remaining £500,000."

@STVGrant: Rangers expect to have repaid Sports Direct, and had securities returned, by end of month.

At worst it should have been brought to the QC's attention during the lunch break in order to correct the error when the Court rose after the break.

Both our Chairman and Company Secretary were in Court so I fail to see why it wasn't done.
