Rangers could face punishment over sectarian chanting

I the 60's it was always "billy boys".

I am really not sure about that, I seem to remember otherwise - and I have clear memories of it being 'Brigton Derry Boys' in the 70s. However I know that memories are fallible....so it's off to youtube to check when time allows!

I've been a regular at matches since 1960 and didn't know that folk sang "derry boys" until I read it on here a few hours ago.

Really? This is weird. I was regular from 65(with gaps when living abroad) until more recent times and have heard it hundreds of times/every time I can remember. Just the last two word of the chorus we are talking about, right? Hullo Hullo we are the Billy Boys/ Hullo Hullo we are the Billy Boys/We're..../....die/For we are the Brigton Derry Boys" No? I hear "derry" here too, in recent times:

See below - my bad, I thought we were talking about the last few words, I have never heard of it not being Billy Boys everywhere else, sorry - the very idea seemed too outlandish for me to take in.:oops::oops:

The old covered terrace was also called the Derry. That is where I thought it originally came from until I heard the fullerton story.

Yes, me too or at least that inference was present. I also thought "Billy Boys" was after King Billy until sometime this century when I read otherwise on FF.
