After signing Rossiter, Rangers ready to swoop in for another Liverpool player

Scottish Premier League outfit Rangers are considering a move for Liverpool attacker Sergi Canos, according to reports from the Independent

Liverpool suffered a huge blow recently as they lost the services of promising youngster Jordan Rossiter to Rangers for only £250,000 after the midfielder decided to not renew his contract at Anfield.

Now the Reds face another prospect of losing another one of their talented young players to Rangers the form of Sergi Canos.

Canos is a talented attacking midfielder who enjoyed a wonderful loan spell at Championship outfit Brentford this season, scoring 7 goals as well as providing 5 assists.

The 19-year-old even went on to make his debut for the Liverpool first team during the final day of the season against West Bromwich Albion and it is clear to see that the club hierarchy rate the youngster very highly.

However, Canos’ receiving regular first team football next season is not assured as of yet and the attacker is said to be considering his future in order to earn minutes on the pitch.

With Canos having only one year remaining on his contract, a number of clubs are said to have been alerted about his situation and now according to reports from the Independent, it has been claimed that Scottish side Rangers are considering a swoop for the teenage sensation.

Canos is believed to be available for as little as £1million and Rangers would surely be keen on making another bargain purchase from Liverpool.

Dave King set to offer Mark Warburton new bumper deal at Rangers

DAVE KING is ready to offer Mark Warburton a bumper new deal.

In an exclusive SunSport interview, the Ibrox chief confirmed he fully intends to reward the Rangers boss for an outstanding first season in charge.

Warburton, who signed a three-year deal when he joined Gers last June, will seal a unique treble today if he adds the Scottish Cup to the Championship title and Petrofac Cup already won.

Hampden glory against Hibs would also stamp Gers’ passport back into Europe.

Given the shambles he inherited, it was no surprise that Warbs was named PFA Scotland Manager of the Year by his peers.

Now King, who’s back in Glasgow for today’s season finale, wants to acknowledge his manager’s achievements and tie him to the long-term deal he hopes will keep the English vultures at bay.

Asked if he was seeking to extend Warburton’s contract, King told SunSport: “Yes, in the fast-moving environment we operate in, it is important to review our performance and contractual obligations on an annual basis.”

Warburton’s stock is at an all-time high.

This season alone he’s been linked with FIVE different clubs down south, with Everton and Swansea among them.

A move to the Premiership surely beckons one day for the former City trader, but King is keen to keep him at Ibrox for as long as possible.

Ex-Gers star Nigel Spackman told Warbs this week that all his footballing dreams could be realised at Rangers.

And if European football is to be back on the menu next season then King is in complete agreement.

He said: “The Premier League is a global league that all managers want to be a part of — but Rangers remains a bigger club than most English Premier League clubs.

“Mark has gained fantastic experience managing a ‘must-win’ club over the last year and will gain even more as we return to the Premiership and to Europe.

“I can’t see a more attractive footballing prospect emanating from down south.”

Accrington Stanley duo Matt Crooks and Josh Windass are on their way to Ibrox after signing pre-contract agreements in January.

Last week, Liverpool’s Under-19 captain Jordan Rossiter followed suit.

Within the next few days, Joey Barton could also put pen to paper on a sensational two-year deal.

Gers fans have spent recent summers fretting over CVAs, AGMs and EGMs — now they are rejoicing in transfer talk.

And King has vowed the rebuilding job will continue, with six or seven players targeted as Gers set their sights on challenging Celtic for next season’s title.

King said: “Mark prefers to work with a lean squad and that won’t change, but we do need additional quality and depth for the season ahead.

“This will require six or seven additions to the squad.”

The capture of Barton, in particular, would be viewed as a real statement of intent by Rangers and the Ibrox board.

Yet King believes it’s more a measure of the faith and trust they have in Warburton.

He added: “Whether it is Joey or anyone else, what we are really doing is supporting the judgment of the manager.

“He has delivered so far and continues to deserve our full support.”

King is adamant the signing of a player as high profile as Barton wouldn’t break the club’s wage policy.

Report: Rangers still targeting Daniel Bentley for Ibrox move

According to the Southend Echo, Rangers are still in the race to sign Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley - but are battling Bournemouth, Brentford and Burnley.

Bentley, 22, was on the books at Arsenal before being released in 2008, and the Basildon-born stopper joined nearby Southend United shortly after.

The giant 6ft 4in stopper has come up through the ranks at Roots Hall, and since making his first-team debut in 2011, he's racked up more than 150 appearances for the Shrimpers.

However, Bentley is out of contract this summer, and looks set to leave Southend having so far snubbed any chance of a contract extension - and reports suggest it's a four-team race for his signature.

The Southend Echo report that Rangers remain keen to lure Bentley up to Ibrox this summer, but three English clubs are also keen; Premier League sides Bournemouth and Burnley, as well as Championship side Brentford.

The Gers saw Wes Foderingham impress in his first season at Ibrox, but with Cammy Bell seemingly having little future at Rangers and January signing Maciej Gostomski already gone, manager Mark Warburton may look to bring in another shot stopper this summer.

Warburton has already landed three players from English clubs as Accrington duo Matt Crooks and Josh Windass, as well as Liverpool teenager Jordan Rosster, have signed in controversial fashion, as they have penned pre-contract agreement for minimal compensation.

The compensation laws for out of contract players means that Scottish clubs can sign players from England for a fraction of the cost that an English club would have to pay.

That would be the case for Bentley to, as he's out of contract this summer, and could join Rangers for a fee far below what Southend would demand in a tribunal - and having done so already this summer, that could be an appealing avenue for Warburton and Rangers, even if they face a battle with Premier League clubs for his signature.

Beat me to it FS. As clear a sign as any I would think.

As a footballer I think he will be a class signing. Hopefully he truly has matured
