Competition time: Win a copy of Glasgow Rangers: The Journey

Recommended Posts

Not had a book competition for a while so for the build up to Sunday's match, we're giving away a copy of Glasgow Rangers: The Journey (By Willie Vass and Jeff Holmes).

Demoted to the lowest league in the land, this is the story of how our club picked itself up off the canvas and fought back.

With the incredible backing of an army of fans, this great sporting institution wasn’t about to remain grounded for any length of time. A remarkable story – in words and pictures – of The Journey back to the top. This is a top-quality product - 192 pages bound in a hardback A4 format landscape book - perfect for any coffee table!

In Glasgow Rangers: The Journey you will discover:

- How the club's fervent fan base took the fight to the football authorities;

- How Rangers legend Ally McCoist held the club together with a sticking plaster;

- How Rangers played a Scottish Cup tie while a farmer delivered hay on his tractor;

- Which pies are unofficially the best in Scottish football;

- How Historic Scotland closed iconic Dumbarton Castle so Rangers fans couldn't watch their team free of charge;

- How play was suspended in one match when a ball got stuck on top of the club's hedge;

- And just how close the mighty Rangers came to going out of the game.

Jeff Holmes is a lifelong Rangers fan. He worked with Scottish Television for 25 years, and six years on BBC soap River City, before becoming a full-time reporter. He has covered football for The Sun, Daily Record and Sunday Mail and is the author of 11 books.

Willie Vass covered his first Rangers match in 1986, and was thrilled when he landed a staff job at the Rangers News. For the past 25 years he has covered the Ibrox club through good times and bad.

More info on the book and how to order is available here: http://www.gersjourney.co.uk and on the publisher's page here: http://www.pitchpublishing.co.uk/shop/glasgow-rangers-journey

To win our copy (also signed by Willie!), simply tell us who scored Rangers' first goal in Division Three at the start of season 2012/13. PM me on here or email me at info@gersnet.co.uk with your answer and full mailing address.

The competition closes on Friday at midnight and the lucky winner will be notified soon after with the book mailed out next week. The site administrator's decision is final.
