Oliver Burke tips Rangers star Barrie McKay to win big-money move out of Scotland

Rangers ace Barrie McKay flattered by Oliver Burke comments but insists he has no plans to leave Ibrox

RB Leipzig star Burke has tipped McKay for a big move to England after being impressed by him in Sunday's friendly.

Barrie McKay admits he was flattered by Oliver Burke's prediction he could play at the top level in England - but has no thoughts of making a move from Rangers .

McKay impressed fellow Scotland squad member Burke during Rangers' 4-0 friendly defeat to RB Leipzig on Sunday and the former Nottingham Forest player later tipped his fellow winger for a major move in the coming years.

But McKay, whose Ibrox contract runs until May 2018, will not be distracted by looking too far ahead.

The 22-year-old said: "It's obviously good for other people to pick up on how I played and for him to say something like that is quite a good thing."But I'm happy here at Rangers and I'm here to play for Rangers, so to talk about that stuff wouldn't be right. I'm playing for Rangers just now and that's my only concern."

McKay was speaking after losing a simulated dress rehearsal of Saturday's William Hill Scottish Cup tie with Motherwell against Fir Park midfielder Chris Cadden in the Scottish Football Museum's new EA FIFA 17 Game Zone.

But it was a much more significant Hampden defeat that was on McKay's mind as he looked ahead to the fourth-round tie at Ibrox.McKay and his team-mates are desperate to exorcise the memories of their last-gasp defeat to Hibernian in last year's final."To be beaten at the final hurdle did hurt and it took a bit of time to get over it," McKay said."The Scottish Cup is a big cup and you go into every competition to win it so this one won't be any different.

"But obviously with that disappointment of last year we want to right that wrong."You come to a club like Rangers to win silverware and you want to add to the silverware that is already here."It will be a tough game, they have made it hard for us in the past couple of games to get goals. But it's up to us to break them down."

Personally I think McKay needs to add goals to his game. He needs to get to the back post more often and create havoc there. He stays far too wide now to be dangerous. if he can add that he will be a topper.

People may have forgotten that Barrie has only recently got to the form of last season. He's not as sub-standard as Tav any longer, but he's far from what he is capapble of. I was rather surprised by the contribution he's made in the RBL game, earning praise from the German commentator all game. Some cynical may say that he saw what Burke has achieved and might look for something similar himself ... and hence there has not been a signature under a new contract. I do find it a touch strange when people lay much of the "blame" at the board's doorstep when it comes to contract extensions. It always takes two (or with the agent involved three) to get this done. And I doubt Barrie ain't clever here. Miller and Hill have done admirably under the circumstances and to get them for another season would not harm us in any way or form.

It is depressing to think we will lose our best young player but keep two whose best days are behind them.

not really

we'll get as much as we can for him

I reckon Fods is in the same category.......we'll get good money for him too

that's the model

As I remember Dick proposed it too. He said he was offered £7m to be spent on players or training facilities....he chose Murray Park...........develop players, sell them on.....Van Bronckhurst, Numan, Fernando all said the same thing when we went tits up

"C'est la vie", say the old folks

It goes to show you never can tell
