Ralston in the Record: MW on borrowed time

Recommended Posts

The big problem this season has been the players brought in during the summer haven't added what we thought to the squad,

Gilks - done well when asked- left.

Hodson - reliable

Hill - Done well but struggles against pace.

Senderos- looked decent yesterday think being thrown in against the mhanks didn't help.

Barton - disaster

Kranjcar - unlucky to be injured as he was starting to make an impact.

Windass - flashes of a good player but fitness/injuries hampered.

Crooks - injured not given much game time.

Garner - fights n scraps needs more goals.

Dodoo - done well not given enough chances.

Rossiter - ????????

So overall a mixture of bad luck and fitness problems have hampered us and we now find ourselves stuck like this until the summer.

You could be even more ruthless and say that Hill is the only one we've still got who has been a success from that list & he's 38 years old and unlkely to be here next season

Quite. I've said much the same on other threads. We've had two absolutely dreadful transfer windows. Missed out on players we were after, not strengthened areas which needed it and, as you note, too many of those who have come in haven't had enough impact for one reason or another. I can remember Alex Ferguson talking about the importance of transfers. It wasn't just about bringing in players to fill holes in the squad but psychologically important, to keep the squad motivated and give a sense of momentum. We've clearly lost all our momentum.

Whilst there is clearly a great deal of truth in what has been written; it seems that discretion is not a quality high on the list of key qualities for Rangers' Directors at the moment; and it must be extremely difficult for the Manager to find Directors effectively briefing against him.

Agreed on a personal basis Brahim, but that shouldn't necessarily impact on the players performance on the pitch or in training. We're both professionals, when we were working for "difficult " bosses it wouldn't have impacted on the people reporting to us.

The shortcomings of the manager should not be used by the Board to deflect from their own shortcomings.

But that is exactly what is being played out right now , much like what Murray did with PLG when he believed we could downsize and PLG would pull rabbits out the hat .

As I previously posted given money MW can find players , his last 4 signings that Brentford sold went for £27 million PROFIT , but he is operating below the level he was at with Brentford regards transfer budgets , plus he didn't have to rebuild an entire team .

If the mob mentality spooks this board and their bottle collapses , they are going to have serious problems both paying off MW and DW , plus hiring a decent new manager then paying off or signing new players for next season , IMHO its absolute madness to deviate from the path we are going down of rebuilding our club , but Rangers fans have never been blessed with patience have we .

I know, I find it sad and unedifying and expect better from a Rangers Board. What hope is there when the backstabbing occurs at that level?

They need to bear in mind that if they give Warburton his jotters and if his replacement can't wave a magic wand then that only leaves one target left and they more than anyone should know what happens when the fan base turns against their Board.

Sadly it appears the decision has been made and all that remains is the timing.
