The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Worth a punt at 35?, IMHO we should maybe take any free market players that can 1) Do us a turn 2) Be developed and 3) Have a sell on fee/value.

Which was exactly what Warburton promised us when he first arrived.

I'd a feeling our support wouldn't accept that though - we don't have the patience to wait on youngsters and the very few who do actually produce a return we don't like to see sold.

And his main failure was part A - players who "would do us a turn".

A squad full of dumplings will not get you a contract renewal.

We should only have 3 or 4 players max in our first team squad with no sell on value.

Right now, that would probably only include Miller and Kranjcar, even though I can envisage some Chinese or Arab club to pay us a few quid for the latter. Alves will command a fee still.

Anyways, if we sign someone, it may very well be a chap no-one has on the radar.

Might be worth contemplating to play some of the Development games at Ibrox with e.g. reduced entry fees for ST holders etc. to cover the costs and produce some income - which should be made known to the support:

... as well as whipping up the odd friendly against decent opposition under the same conditions as above.

Rumour doing the round of a friendly against Benfica in Toronto on international weekend October 6th ...

BOOK IT!!!!! Benfica no Canada!!

@SLBenfica - @RangersFC Hamilton, @TimHortonsField Canada October 6th

Can't remember any "squad full of dumplings" under Warburton ...

Really DB ? How many signings under Warburton would we consider as being good ? That is taking consideration of the weekly criticism of those he did sign who are still actually worth the cost of a clean jersey.

A list of Warburton players you'd pay money to watch may come as a surprise to some of us here mate.

That might be your opinion, but I still can't remember a "squad full of dumplings" under Warburton. It is one thing to look at "the quality" of each individual, not least on hindsight, but a quite different thing to look at what was available at the time, willing to come, and affordable. I think we spent about 2m max last season and next to nothing the season before. So what quality can be expected? None of anything that many consider Rangers standard. But a squad of "dumplings" does not win the Championship nor beat Scum FC in a Cup Semi-Final, does it? That they allhad a sub-standard season last time around does not push anything beforehand down the drain. It happens to many teams over the years and AFAIK, the distance to the mighty Dons in 2nd was equally tall? So a small amount of objectivity should still be with us, don't you think?
