Regardless of tomorrow's result...

I wish to make the following comment about our manager. When he first joined I absolutely slated him, based on the fact he had the most bizarre CV I had ever seen, I mean, a manager with no track record of success in European football and last seen coaching teams in Mexico and Qatar?

However, I am seeing very good things from him. The passion is a big thing for me and is something I always look for from a manager. You see it in spades from the elite like Conte, Guardiola and Mourinho. The way he decimated Aberdeen in the second half was extremely impressive too. Today's semi final with Chelsea and Spurs reminded me of that. Jermaine Jenas argued after the game that Chelsea were undeserved victors. Shearer astutely corrected him that possession ultimately counts for nothing and that Chelsea destroyed Spurs where it counts. I think it's fair to say that the introduction of Eden Hazard, for me the best footballer in the world after Messi, was something Spurs couldn't cope with, but I think the game played out as Conte planned.

I want to see a Rangers side playing possession based, creative football that's easy on the eye. I'm not entirely sure long term what we're going to get from Pedro. So far, however, I am warming to him. We have had two managers with impressive CV's in recent history with PLG and Warburton who ultimately proved worthless. Hopefully the one with the suspect CV proves me wrong. Let's get stuck in to them tomorrow. We have nothing to fear.

Messi is down to about 4th or 5th these days. I also think we had better possession v aberdeen.

Judging books by their cover is always risky and people deserve a chance to show what they can do. I like what i see so far myself.

In truth conte himself would struggle to bridge the gap we face but lets see how it goes.

I am fascinated to see who he brings in.

On a more personal note you really do just tend to see the worst in situations. His cv for instance included winning the mexican league. You do it with big eck everytime as well. Totally ignore trophys galore to talk about 1 season that was abysmal in fairness.

Messi is down to 4th/5th? What 4 players are better than him? Messi is victim of own incredible and frankly outrageous standards. I've read people comment that he has had a poor season. In his 45 appearances this season he has scored 45 goals. IMO Messi is the best player this world has ever seen (by miles) and is unfairly judged on his International record (ie. Not winning a World Cup) in a time when no one gives a damn about the International Game.

I think the thing that apparent in football is that sometimes a good CV means nowt. You mentioned PLG above. Granted his CV looked impressive but if you look at his time at Lyon, much of what he achieved was created on the foundations built by Santini. Sometimes it can be as simple as the right manager, at the right club, at the right time.

Hes not even the best at barca anymore. Maybe even third. Over the last few years ronaldos been better. Hazard is getting to be outrageously good.

There are other contenders in bale and even alli.

No team wouldnt take cante in a heartbeat.

Messis unbelievable hes just not as good as he was.

He's not as consistently good as he was and that may be due to court cases, things going on at Barca, or simply burn out as he's played an unbelievable amount of football and never gets a break due to World Cups, Copa America, and all the extra tournaments now run for clubs. He can still be way ahead of anyone else though. I watched a game from Spain a couple of months back where he was as good as ever. This came amidst, by his outrageous standards, 'poor' games.

My abiding memories from the Juve game will be a pass he made that was so sexy that I thought I'd switched to a porn channel.

You say that he's not the best at Barca anymore - I disagree, he's the first one they'd want on the team-sheet and the last player they'd want to lose. He's not been the best in the team for every single game this season. That's the difference.

As was said after the OF semi-final last season, it was probably right to say that the win came "too early", squad-ability wise. Expectations were greater than they should have been, even though many players were sure not playing at their best level either, nor did we show any continuity. Injuries and Barton did not help. But all that is past.

For all the euphoria that came with Pedro, he still "only" has the same players available as Warburton and Murty did, and it showed in all games thus far, even though we finally started to get results. The Motherwell and Killie games showed that we are far from being good, and, despite the result, our first half against Aberdeen had most of us circling in orbit because of our at times inept display.

You can clearly feel a fresh wind is blowing, yet much will be made about the next couple of games. The hysteria the mhedia has created again and will sure create should we fall will require some mental strength amongst the legion ... and we are not know for that.

As has been said, it is far to early to judge PC's impact on the team and the club. This summer will go a long way to get our team back on track for silverware and glory. You'd hope all Bears show a decent amount of patience.

As I was aiming at in the above post, a "poor" season fro Messi is a career defining season for other players. Alli? Bale? These guys are not on the same planet as Messi. Good as they are they are not close. When Alli scores 45 goals from 45 games in a "poor" season, I might take notice. Anyway, it's all about opinions. Enjoy the game Gunslinger (does anyone actually "enjoy these games...)

I will reserve any judgement until he has delivered some titles and cups and a run in Europe , am a hard man to please

Agreed I will also reserve judgement. Only against Partick did I see a system coming in for the rest our play looked like a car crash.
