Caixinha proven right on Aberdeen

Recommended Posts

When Pedro Caixinha pointed out quite calmly and rationally in a press conference that Aberdeen appeared to have a rebuilding job on their hands in the summer, you'd have thought he'd molested Stewart Milne's prize ewe, such was the reaction in some quarters.

There was an article saying that Aberdeen have secured some American based investor who may get heavily involved next season. If he does not hurry, he'll have a monumental job at his hands, given that their best players are offski and the manager may follow suit.

But why care about Aberdeen? TLB has stated that he aims for 2nd place in the league next season!!!

I was thinking that very same thing last night.

Unless there is emergency treatment immediately at the sheepdome they'll be lucky to get a top 6 finish. They won't get 2nd or even 3rd imo.

Is Aberdeen's "Cycle" coming to an end???

We won't know that until we see the team play & how they do in the league.

As PC pointed out, their team has been quite settled over the past couple of years, but they have lost a number of 1st team regulars already this window. The key for McInnes (if he stays) will be gelling a new squad back together. You could argue that we are in the same position, given the number of signings, but I would argue that we have brough it a higher quality of player than Aberdeen will, so hopefully will gel together better/more effectively.

As of now, us aside, no Premiership team has signed anyone for a fee, but all have been restricted to freebies - again. Any income generated by transfer, e.g. McLean or Hayes at Aberdeen, will most likely put in the bank to keep them going.

As for Aberdeen or the other "big clubs" outside Glasgow ... while dreaming of glory days and high positions, title challenges and silverware, those you would credit with at least some sort of traditional potential all failed miserably. The odd final appearance aside, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian or Dundee United essentially fell apart and you can count the combined top 6 finishes during our absence of these teams on one hand. As was predicted in the torrid days of 2012 by those with at least half a brain, the abysmal behaviour by those clubs - looking for their own gain first and foremost, and some monumental letting off of well groomed hate - shot them in the leg big time (a Scottish illness, if I may say so). You do wonder how the look on their faces will be once we snatch 55 and make them look ever more foolish ...

There was no real 'cycle' in which they became a second force. What was happening during this 'cycle'? Well we were gone for the bulk of it while at the same time the Edinburgh duo were spiraling downwards and were also gone for a period. That's all it was and now they will fall back into their proper position.
