Posted on the other thread , sky are reporting there is a potential issue with one of their players and a banned substance , didn't see the whole report though

The guy that scored took a banned substance for asthma at his previous club. He apparently didn't get permission from UEFA to play, but Progres say they are confident that it will be given retrospectively.

I'd be checking our players for banned substances. LSD and sleeping pills in particular.

May 14 F91 Dudelange-CS Fola Esch championship game tested positive to a banned substance, the Luxembourgish anti-doping agency (ALAD) said on Thursday.

The CS Fola Esch player, who signed with the Progrès Niederkorn for the coming season, has been informed of the results by the ALAD.

Whether, or for how long, the 30-year-old player will be banned is not yet known.

ALAD said it would notify the disciplinary council against doping, adding that other checks carried out on the day of the game came back negative.

Irrespective of the result last night, if he's banned, he's banned. One cannot play "on bail", in either of the two games. But we have to wait and see what is actually going on and what UEFA will say. You do wonder why that has not appeared after the first game.

Same old problem: we can't create chances, and then when we do we can't take them; and then we concede stupid, sloppy goals. I thought we were quite comfortable; we weren't in any danger, despite our lethargic performance. We even hit the bar three times.

There were moments in both games where we played some nice stuff, but it's nowhere near consistent enough. I believe that's how the manager wants us to play, but he's not getting them to do it consistently. Everyone has to take the blame for this result. They had never scored more than one goal in a European game. Embarrassing result. Even playing poorly, we should be beating this team.

Every team concedes chances and goals from time to time. If we can only score with 1 out of 20 or 30 chances, we are going to lose a lot of games.

Yes, that has been going on for at least 18 months now, as has being gutless. Both recipes for disaster,

Sorry but if UEFA banned a player then informed the players new club and the country's governing body and that team them plays said player who also has a big role in the win then UEFA have zero option but to ban the side completely.

Don't want us to accept it though. If presented the option replay the match. Players banned for doping is about as bad as it gets. Every guy banned has an excuse for what he was taking but at the end of the day he's banned .

Without wanting to derail this thread, we have bought two new strikers, with only one close to competitive match fitness (Morelos), who signed up days ahead of the first game. We'll see how they convert the chances we create once they get playing time. We are still a month away from our first competitive league game though, so how can one foresee how all the newcomers may perform?
