Good grief. Grow up man. You are acting like a bloody child.

Not that anyone actually cares that much but, as a point of clarity, I am completely ambivalent as to the date that is selected via a poll. Indeed, I actually suggested in one of my posts that selecting the OF game was risky given some of the antics that are sometimes observed after these games.

So if your "Let Craig name the day" is some kind of accusation that I am trying to manipulate the voting then you couldn't be further from the truth, other than in your own mind.

In fact, the major reason for me attending ANY Gersnet function would be to put faces to forum names and socialise with those same people and getting to know them a little better. I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting Frankie, Bluedell, Ian, johnnyk for a few beverages and had a more than pleasant chat with forlanssister at Ibrox during a game. I don't need a Gersnet function for that - I can do it whenever I am home and get to a game.

There are a number of other forum members that I hope to have the pleasure of meeting - whether it be outside Ibrox for a quick chat, at the Louden for a couple of pints (Frankie, Ian & others..... 1st home game against the Hibbees ?? - Gribz, are you back home for this ?) or at a Gersnet "Official" dinner - it matters not to me when or indeed where you have the Gersnet function - I will find a way to meet those forum members who have an inkling to meet me and get to know me.

But to suggest that I am trying to manipulate the poll is absolutely ludicrous. Worse, you made that over-reaching accusation as a result of me simply saying, in a jovial manner, "I am not offended that the date I chose is the least popular :D". Quite the reach, even for you BH.

"A bloody child" that needs to "get a grip"; fair enough.

I don't believe for one moment that you set out with the intention of influencing the result of the poll; but what I do believe is that your jovial comment may well have had that effect and for that reason it was wrong. If you can't or wont accept that then also fair enough.

With an hour to the declaration of the result that according to you "(no one) actually cares that much (about)" I'll leave it at that.

All of it....

All of it....

Why did I know you would say that (twice) rather than answer the points I made.

That's exactly the sort of response that you are wont to criticise others for making.

However, I give in; you're right, as always.

So you believe that the Gersnet members aren't mature enough to not be manipulated by a throwaway comment - that is a slight on the forum members. It wasn't wrong. You didn't stipulate that the poll should be secret.

"Not that anyone actually cares that much" was in reference to people caring (or not) about my preference of date. Read it again and you may actually see what I have written, rather than what you wish to see. In recent past it has become a trait of yours to make assumptions as to what I am saying, rather than what I am actually saying.

That said..... yes, I will readily admit that I don't see it as being significant in the grand scheme of things. 17 votes cast suggest that, at this point, it isn't a big thing in the grand scheme of things. We Rangers fans have far bigger issues to worry about at present.

As I said, I don't need a Gersnet function to find the time to socialize with any forum members who wish to meet me - I can do that anytime I am home before or after a game over a cold beverage. So the notion that I was manipulating the vote is just ludicrous to me. And whilst you say that you don't believe that I intentionally manipulated it, your subsequent comments about "let Craig decide the date" most certainly contradict that statement.

You're taking the whole thing too seriously. The dinner is meant to be a bit of fun. Accusing people of trying to influence the poll? Cmon.

I doubt most who voted care when it is. Most, like ourselves can probably make all the dates at this point., or don't know what their arrangements are this far out. It may even be the case that some who voted have no intention of and as such the result is skewed.

17 votes cast is actually pretty good when you consider that out of the 47 people who have attended the past dinners, only 25 are/were members, one of whom is deceased and another barred, which also takes out his son. So 22 members who have attended in the past are eligible to vote and it looks like most have taken the opportunity to do so along with 2/3 possible newbies.

Now who's slighting the forum members?
