Remember....Halliday's punishment for his gesture was a Yellow card. It so happened that he'd already been booked, so resulted in a red & subsequent ban (which couldn't be appealed)

 

The rules in that respect are quite bizarre. Likewise the Stokes / Tavernier incident, where both were booked when elsewhere Stokes would have seen red and Tav had perhaps received a stern talking to As it stands, neither Stokes' yellow can be increased by the CO nor Tav's rescinded.

Some would say a deliberate ploy by the ref to ensure that Rangers were punished as much, if not more, than Hibs.
