I can't see us being able to afford McArthur's salary. It was reported he was on £50k a week.

He's another Dorrans in that respect. A Bluenose willing to return and cut his wage demands accordingly. In any case, being on 50k for as long as he has been, McArthur sure has made his money to see him through his life.

EDIT: Somewhere in the region of 5 to 10m by now.

The average EPL salary has broken through the £60,000 a week barrier for the first time , mental wages , absolutely mental

Are you saying that because he's said it, or just because you hope it?

There's a difference between Dorrans moving here from Championship wages and McArthur moving here from £50K a week.

Just passing on "info" ...

Report: Crystal Palace's James McArthur tempted by summer Ibrox switch

The Crystal Palace midfielder is a life-long Glasgow Rangers fan.

A report from the Daily Record today claims that Eagles midfielder James McArthur could be tempted into a summer switch to the Gers, when his contract expires with the south London outfit.

The Glasgow giants are slowly rebuilding, and trying to close the gap on bitter rivals Celtic, after their four year hiatus from the Scottish Premiership, and bringing someone like the 30-year-old Scotland international to Ibrox is exactly the type of signing that they need in order to do just that.

McArthur, who grew up in Glasgow and is a passionate Rangers fan, has been an incredibly consistent performer for Palace, since moving to Selhurst Park from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million.

And what a sensational signing he would be for the Gers, should they indeed manage to bring him to the club upon the expiration of his contract with the Eagles.

The Daily Record claim that the chance to compete for trophies and the potential of European football appeals to McArthur, and that he would favour a move to Ibrox over a switch to another English club.

Scot Bain, Paul McGinn, Danny Wilson, Craig Forsyth, David Templeton, Kenny McLean, Fraser Fyvie, Andy Driver, Jamie Walker, Oliver McBurnie, and James McArthur:

The Crystal Palace midfielder is approaching the latter end of his career and may fancy a move north for a fresh challenge.

After a move to Wigan in 2010 he proved he was Premier League class and earned a big-money switch to Selhurst Park.

It's not been plain sailing there but he has been a regular during his time at Palace.

A boyhood Rangers fan, the Ibrox club couldn't go far wrong if they made contact with McArthur and could persuade him to move home for the final few years of his career a la Graham Dorrans

He will have offers in England but the chance to compete for trophies and play in Europe would be an advantage to Rangers if they made a move.

I would do it if I already had that much money. Doesn’t necessarily mean he would but I would. Not as if he would even be on minimum wage or anything doing it. Would probably still be on around a million a year.
