EMERSON HYNDMAN is set for a stunning return to Rangers.

The Bournemouth midfielder, 21, is poised to head back to Ibrox on loan after being made Graeme Murty’s next major transfer target.

He was at the Scottish giants last season and enjoyed a successful spell.

But Pedro Caixinha took charge and overlooked him for the last part of the campaign.

With Caixinha axed and Murty in charge, the USA international is set for a second move north of the border to get regular football.

Eddie Howe is set to allow him to leave the Cherries on loan to give him more experience.

Then the South Coast club boss expects him to return to compete for a first-team place at the Vitality.

Murty has recently signed Russell Martin, Jason Cummings, Sean Goss and Declan John.

And in Hyndman he reckons he has a tried-and-tested player to slot straight into his midfield for the rest of the season.

Hyndman has been limited to cup games this season under Howe.

He joined Bournemouth from Fulham whilst being tracked by Celtic and Borussia Dortmund.

Did Caixinha leave him out? I don't recall that.

 

I would take him only if we can get him permanently; which looks unlikely.

Admittedly the latter two are more wingers than midfielders but even excluding them we have 6 or 7 midfielders for 2 (or 3 max) central midfield berths.....  Could it be that Murty is about to try a 3-5-2 with the addition of Martin ??  Along with Alves saying he isn't leaving - would that mean a back 3 of, say, Wilson, Alves & Martin ?  With John & Tav becoming wing-backs and, essentially, fighting for a place with Murphy & Candeias respectively ?

 

Or are we staying 4-4-2 which means we have 6 or 7 central midfielders to choose from ??

 

Personally would prefer another goalscorer.  Happy getting Cummings but we could do with more than just Morelos and Cummings in case of injury and/or suspension.
