How much more would you be willing to pay? £50/month, £100/month? £200/month, £500/month?

Anyway, this tax isn't about "helping those not as fortunate". The increase isn't about that.

The tax spending of the SG is mostly on services to the public e.g. NHS, Police, Fire Brigade, Education etc. When I said those not as fortunate as myself I was not just talking about monetary poorer members of society, but those suffering ill health.

I hate that some of my UK taxes goes on things like Trident.

How much more would I be willing to pay? I believe that the SG should have increased the highest band to 50%

Whether it is a single guy moving south or a guy with a family doing it matters not. Nobody, repeat nobody is going to leave this country to live and work elsewhere just because their tax went up a few hundred a year.

I did, 17 years ago. And I guarantee I am not the only one who did.... Indeed, I can guarantee I am not the only one on this forum who did !!

In total irony, the tax rise wouldn't be necessary if Westminster hadn't totally mismanaged the oil industry.

Neither government is particularly adept at managing national finance but I doubt the SNP are any better than the Tories. The oil industry is run by firms more powerful than many governments, so the blame is perhaps best laid at their door.

There are, of course, other taxes which will affect us all but the thread primarily focused on income tax.

Really ? I thought the thread was titled "SNP Budget".... Pray tell how that becomes an income tax thread ????

What trips to Catalonia have been paid for by Scottish Government?

I have no problem paying extra tax to pay for the others. Don’t mind helping those not as fortunate as myself.

Or.... Don't mind helping those who bleed the system dry ?

Same thing, different mouth, same end result !

In total irony, the tax rise wouldn't be necessary if Westminster hadn't totally mismanaged the oil industry (and sold a lot of it off to pay for tax cuts) - and had instead listened to the SNP:

BFS said that since the crash in oil prices in 2015 when the price of a barrel more than halved, Norway has made nearly £29.33bn in oil and gas revenues, while the UK lost almost £22.8m.

FFS, here we go with the oil industry nonsense again - were the SNP even in existence when we had oil ? Or is it just convenient to hold them to some wonderful pittard now ?

So.... the UK have proven they haven't a clue about running the oil industry in the North Sea

Where's the proof the SNP would have a clue about how to run it differently ??
