That's him against Hertha. Much of what appears in the papers over here actually comes from reports in Scotland, which is a bit strange.

Vile Nacho Novo trolls blasted by anti-racism charity

DOZENS of vile trolls have been condemned for flooding social media with cruel comments aimed at former Rangers star Nacho Novo who is recovering from a heart attack.

Many of the comments echo a “song” which has been sung and aimed at the star in the past.

It contains the lyrics: “I hope you die in your sleep Nacho Novo, I hope you die in your sleep, I pray…”

Leading anti-racism charity Nil By Mouth blasted the trolls “bigoted, poisonous behaviour” which showed them to be “a pretty poor excuse for a human being.”

One tweet said: “Hope you die within a week nacho novo!”

Another user posted: “Nacho novo , won’t see ten in a row.”

Nil By Mouth, a charity set up by the 52nd Evening Times SWOTY Cara Henderson, was among those quick to condemn the trolls.

Nil by Mouth Campaign Director Dave Scott said: “This type of bigoted, poisonous behaviour is sadly becoming more and more prevalent on social media sites as attention seeking wannabes try and beat each other in a race to the bottom.

“If your reaction to someone having an heart attack is to gloat because they once played for a rival football club in an effort to get other morons to click ‘like’ you’re a pretty poor excuse for a human being.”

One Twitter user wrote: “This is just disgusting from Celtic fans. Yes I appreciate not all of them have this opinion, in fact many of the are very respectful and wish Nacho Novo a speedy recovery, but it’s just people like this that make Celtic look bad, wishing he’d ‘die within a week’.”

Another added: “Get well soon Wee Nacho Novo. Absolutely disgusting the amount of tweets from ‘rival’ fans of our club wanting an ex footballer to die. This country’s football is pure poisonous.”

As reported by the Evening Times, the former Rangers striker is in a stable condition after suffering a heart attack on Saturday evening.

The ET echoes, but does not quote, the words of a song, which, if I am not mistaken, contains the, ahem,  deathless lyric

"...by a bullet from the IRA..."

I am convinced that the fhilth would find Ignacio's death by the method for which they pray preferable to that by heart attack.

Nil by Natural Causes, one might say.

He spent around 10 years of his career in Scotland encompassing effectively all of his prime years. He's probably more of a name in Scotland than anywhere else.

The Spaniard has been in a Berlin hospital since he collapsed at a charity football tournament last Saturday.

Former Gers ace Derek Ferguson, 50, told how he spotted the striker “struggling” after a match.

He said: “I noticed near the end of our last game that Nacho had come off and was leaning over the barrier.

“You could see he was struggling. I didn’t read too much into it as a few other guys with good fitness had struggled.
