Does seem a little strange. Ferguson's was a personal 'ban', but The BBC never stopped sending reporters. 

 

Our situation seems without precedent indeed.

I think Dundee may have banned Spence in the past but can't remember what over and how the BBC dealt with and resolved the issue.

Indeed, but that would require an SPFL that was also capable of treating us fairly and seeking to represent the interest of one of its key members.   Other than big bad Rangers agitating loudly, I can't see any obvious way that this will be resolved without some changes in personnel at the BBC.

It is far easier, and cheaper,  for BBC Pacific Quay to continue its masquerade than to actually provide remedial education for its editors, journalists, and presenters, and to replace those who might prove either uneducable, or irredeemable and unwilling to embrace proper standards of reportage and comment.

Ultimately I think you're correct.

 

In the interim Donalda MacKinnon has taken over as Director of BBC Scotland and she certainly hasn't shown much enthusiasm for changing things.

From memory she's been in post for well over a year, so I would assume that nothing much is likely to change for the time being.

Nope, a lad on Twitter has shown me a complaint a month over she took the post in December 2016 and the rhetoric over McLaughlin's "banning" remains the same.

Since the BBC is now also under the scrutiny of Ofcom, why not complain to them about the mistreatment of Rangers and its fans* at the hands of the BBC. They can sure inquire why there is a "ban" in place from the BBC which in essence covers up the hardly  impartial and biased actions of "one of theirs"? After all, it is obvious that the BBC itself has no regulatory body with regards to the work of specific journalists.

 

*Since the BBC is publicly funded.

The BBC at all levels refuse to accept that there's was the slightest wrongdoing by any of their staff. Who knows if they genuinely believe that or it's just the line that suits them. 

 

While that approach continues, it leaves it open for Chris McLaughlin or any of their other reporters to stick the boot in or tell lies, knowing that there will be no comeback. 

 

It's what happened last time a compromise was reached,  andv it'll happen again. 

 

The club is therefore left in an impossible position of accepting the boycott or allowing BBC reporters free reign to report false news and lies. 

 

The former is obviously the preference so the BBC boycott will continue for the foreseeable future.
