is he really 32? God, where does the time go?!?

I suppose he offers something different but is he mobile or hard working enough for this team?

Aye, it was 13 years ago he was scoring for us in the CL in Porto.

It’s just dawned on me that there’s one good reason why McCormack might happen, UEFA homegrown rules.

Im no expert but apparently you need 8 Scots in the 25 man squad with at least 4 being homegrown. We’re seriously short of fit senior players in that department.

It's good to have various names doing the rounds, if for nothing else, to let Hearts think/know that Lafferty isn't our only option.

As more days pass, it seems as though Hearts and Rangers can't agree a price and that the Edinburgh club have better cards in this game of brinkmanship.

SG wanted a forward in at the start of the month, then had to go along with the game until yesterday when he seemed to make it clear he wanted at least one in before the European deadline (I think it's 11pm tomorrow).

If it doesn't happen by tomorrow night, maybe we will look elsewhere.

Having looked at the numbers this is unlikely to impact our plans. By my count we would have to make 3 more non-Scottish signings before homegrown rules impacted us at all because we only have 14 senior non-Scots in the squad.

Honestly, we are starting to seriously lacking in depth when it comes to senior players.

10 games in 32 days (2nd August to 2nd Sept) is a hard slog for a relatively small squad.

We need players in NOW.

We've seemingly upped the bid for Lafferty and may look at Killies' Jordan Jones now, as Murphy's injury might keep him out for some time. Haven't seen much of Jones bar our games, where he looked a handful. We do have Middleton as an option, but we are still down to Candeias, Kent and Middleton when it comes to wingers.

We're going to have to get close to Hearts price if we want Lafferty in for European deadline. They know we want him and won't blink.

Kilmarnock would want serious money for Jones and given his age and ability, he may just be worth it.
