Sven-Goran Eriksson tips Rangers boss Steven Gerrard for success: 'He's a clever man'

STEVEN Gerrard's former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has backed him to succeed as Rangers boss.

The Liverpool great worked under the Swede during his spell in charge of the Three Lions between 2001 and 2006.

Together, the pair travelled to two World Cups and one European Championships and Eriksson believes the wealth of experience Gerrard collected during his playing days will stand him in good stead as he begins life in the dugout.

"I think Steven Gerrard will make a great manager," he said to Paddy Power News.

"His knowledge about football you cannot question. He has so much experience at the very top of the game.

"Of course, what he doesn’t have the experience of is standing in front of 25 players, every day – or going in front of the press almost every day.

"But Steven is a clever man. He knows his football and he will do well."

Gerrard took the job with no senior managerial experience to his name, but the 70-year-old thinks he made the right choice to accept a huge opportunity in Glasgow.

"Rangers is a very big job," he said.

"A lot of people are saying it’s a gamble or a risk.

"But, if I were in his shoes, and I had got that opportunity at his age, I would take it, too.

"You have to, it’s too big to turn down."

I think we need to remember a big chunk of his brain is gone.

Of course, you are correct.

I believe Hartson shares his brain with Tom Boyd, it's a reciprocal arrangement that allows John to borrow Tom's gonad on a temporary basis. Tom took John's brain on a cerebral perambulation, leading to the overturned golf buggie. Tom is a self-confessed 'Daftie', a fraudster took £70,0000 off him some two years past, he promised Tom times two return within six months. Tom has worked for ra Sellik TV these last several years and is always anxious to flash his credentials. Hopefully, Tom will return. 'the BIG chunk' soonest and allow John to safely navigate his way around a golf coarse?

John and Tom, united in symbioTIC partnership.
