Official: Rangers sign Nikola Katic on 4 year deal

Being Scottish you might think he has followed Scottish football all his life and he obviously knows the general environment of Scottish football better than Gerrard possibly could. And knows the divisive nature of the old firm better than maybe Gerrard ever will.

When did McAllister last play or manage in the Scottish leagues?

1985 - has never managed in the Scottish leagues and last played for Motherwell in 1985...

All well and good... except you could apply the exact same things to Davie Weir, except Weir had played in Scotland far, far more recently than McAllister.  And Weir didn't do a great deal to have us competing with Celtic again.

I'm just not seeing having a Scottish #2 as being some masterstroke, particularly when that #2 hasn't played in Scotland for 30 years, and never managed here - though some would argue that is actually a GOOD thing :D

Impossible to form an accurate opinion from these kind of videos but he seems predominately right-footed, fond of a diagonal and mobile enough for close people down and/or make up ground when turned.

We won't know for sure until this time next year but fingers crossed he does the business!

Katic comes at an age where as a centre-half he has time to mature into a top player, do a job for us, earn us a profit and go further in the game............ That's the theory.

As a club/football operation we have to start improving more players.

Part of the scouting process should have been about how they deal with pressure.

We simply can't afford another relatively expensive re-build to go Pete Tong, like last summer.
