Fan-zones, politicians and community spirit

The most surprising thing about that story is that Frank McAveety is now seen as some who stands up for 'us'. Remarkable.

How many of the posters on here are members of their local community council? Members of a political party? A Trade Union?

Noticed Frank McAveety mentioned and though so too.

I had to laugh.

I'm a somewhat unenthusiastic member of a political party as it happens.

Let,s get this thread back on track about the fan zone topic please politics is for other forums.

It's little wonder that the SNP et al are so confident to stick the boot in to us.

That was a really good article and much of the first three pages of responses were familiar, irrelevant and disappointing.

If one can't concentrate on a simple topic without meandering off to various referendums then one will struggle to oppose people like Dornan.

Abstention is definitely not the answer.

Neither the SNP, nor Labour, are likely to be friendly to us.  There are a few other parties you can vote for.

Something more useful would be for you to take some time to scrutinise local government in the same way that the author obviously has.  Most of the things that various councils get up to happens because nobody is watching.

If you don't take the time to do either of these things then please don't be surprised if nobody takes your complaints seriously.

interesting Tweet from one of those who objected.

This is what we’re up against - they are openly biased against us and don’t even care that they are openly mocking a ceremony linked to the death of miners because they hate us so much. And they are in a climate where they are comfortable enough to continue to do that, unpunished.

Is this bigot one of the three SNP councillors that blocked the clubs application for the fan zone?

I suspect Gaffer isn't talking about abstention. I suspect like me they chose to use their vote to NOT vote for any political party?

Openly mocking a ceremony that remembers the Holditch Colliery Miners disaster,  the SNP Sinn Fein party have hit a new low.

They can't get any lower.

They are vermin.
