This morning's Times has a quote from Solicitor, Patrick McGuire summing up Sellik's deliberate attempt to once again bury both their responsibilities and reactions to the latest events :

 

"I would also describe the timing of this release as cynical in the extreme. The sentencing of McCafferty was over a week ago. To put this statement out late on a Friday before a holiday weekend, on the day the Prime Minister resigns, and before a potential treble treble weekend for the club, is appalling. It is an insult to everyone who suffered abuse and to their families.

It is the worst kind of PR low cunning  and casts the club in an even worse light than before. Every member of the Celtic Board should hang their head in shame".

Crisis management communication

The challenge for the victims and who represents them is to overcome it and put the ball firmly back in their court.

 

Prominent, public demonstrations of disgust may be an option.

Cynical PR/spin and careful timing was also apparent in the announcement of Celtic FC offering the managers job to Lennon.

 

The PLC have their hands full trying to put one over on their own fanbase and revenue stream whilst at the same time trying their damdest to avoid taking full responsibility and opening the biscuit tin to compensate victims of child abuse.

 

Spare a thought for Peter, his 7 figure renumeration package is on the line.
