Rangers and Spartak Moscow charged by UEFA over late kick-off in Europa League clash

The Russian outfit also face a number of other charges.

Rangers face disciplinary action from UEFA after their match with Spartak Moscow started late.

The Ibrox club have been charged by the game's governing body over the incident, along with the Russian outfit who also face a number of other charges.

The start of the game was delayed due to the players taking too long to enter the tunnel ahead of kick-off.

Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos was the last player to leave the Rangers dressing room ahead of the game according to TV pictures.

They'll find out their punishment on December 13 while Spartak will also hear the results of their four charges on the same day.

They have also been charged with the throwing of objects, the setting off of fireworks and for blocking stairways.

Wonder whether our charge will be equal to that which the serial offenders from across the river received for having 300 forbidden  PLO-flags in the GB's corner against the Israelis ...

It's a Palestinian flag, not a PLO flag.

Surely we can't be fined too severely for delaying the kick off by a few seconds?

Surely it is the ref who should be cited - it is his job to ensure a game starts at the allotted time and it is his job to tell the teams when to leave the changing rooms.

It would have been the ref or fourth official (can't remember who) that provided the reason for the game not being able to start on time.  If we are at fault (which it seems we were), we just need to hold our hands up.

As you touched on earlier. This rule is broken on most European match-days in some stadium, somewhere and it will always end up with a charge.

Being reported that given it's a first charge for the club re. delayed KO, it's likely to be a warning, rather than a 5 figure fine.

It is based on the precedent involving Valencia (first offence) at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Yep ... not that it makes a difference. The GB wanted to offend the Israelis by clearly showing their support to those (a.k.a. terrorists) who constantly launch rockets against them ... and in doing so acted against the UEFA guideline re political statements and furthermore against a clear UEFA directive before that game. Given the paltry sum they were fined, one wonder whether some Bheast has meddled with UEFA's judgement on the matter.

Anyway, as has been said, "guidelines" were broken but why fine teams any money for this instead of a simple reprimand?

Of course, one would have to check how UEFA dealt with previous breaches ... though it is the first time I heard about it.
