[FT] Rangers 7 - 1 Motherwell (Arfield 8', 61', Tavernier 35' pen, Morelos 38', Middleton 59', Grezda 68', 75')

Nice play again. Morelos playing one-two's from deep, before threading the ball wide for Middleton, who's cross is blocked with Morelos sniffing around.

Morelos is fouled there in that block. He looks like he might react, but Ejaria quickly goes up to him and tells him to stay down. Good play. It must be a ploy to negate that temper from Morelos.

  • Rousseau changed the title to [HT] Rangers 3 - 1 Motherwell (Arfield 8', Tavernier 35' pen, Morelos 38')

Half-time, 3-1.

We started with a nice tempo and got a deserved lead.

We let them in with a sloppily defended goal, and the tempo seemed to disapate a wee bit.

We are still creating chances, though, with some nice play.

Tavernier scoring from the Penalty, that red card for Motherwell, and Morelos scoring with a header has made it much more comfortable than it could have been.

It's noticeable that Tav refraining from taking corners has resulted in a couple of set piece goals this week.

Middleton has a good delivery.

It's actually Tav's set-piece deliveries -- not corners -- that resulted in one goal; His general crossing has been superb today.

Middleton's taking the corners -- wonderfully, it must be said -- which resulted in the other goal.

We need to sharpen up a bit in the midfield and pay attention when we're breaking through there because Motherwell have been loading up in there waiting for our lose play and breaking from it. We also need to learn how to retain the ball from our own throw ins and kick outs its seriously starting to annoy me. Their goal comes from a period of play where we cant retain our throw ins and then we lose the ball because Arfield isn't paying attention as we break before you know it the ball is on top of Katic allowing Bowman to roll him Katic should have done better but the ball should never have been there in the first place.

I'm listening to RTV and I think it's Steven Smith as the co-commentator.  It's interesting because he's commenting on the things they practice, both as a team and individually.  He mentioned that Middleton was too one dimensional and they've been drilling him on when to cut inside in order to vary his play.  He said its showing today, and he's right.  This is the first time I've seen Middleton actually confuse defenders with his intentions.  He can of course just out sprint them (depending on the space he has), but he's now cutting inside when they flood that wing, or double up on him.  What a pleasant improvement, and I hope he continues to develop that in his game, because he could be very dangerous.

Katic has been the difference on set plays today as he was on Thursday he has a very very dangerous presence for us in there.
