Rangers v Aberdeen

Recommended Posts

From the looks, we went 3-5-2 after HT, which was good. Middleton was never required to do any defensive work, but was also far too isolated one the left, with no continual back-up or support. Arfield usually does that. Grezda, Candeias and Tav got into each others way far too often, before Grezda decided to play a more roving role. What all were starved from was any sort of intelligent service from the middle. Square and back passes all night and centrehalfs the ones who should be the creative long-ball experts?

But really, we are in December and have seen about a dozen of these games and seemingly never really learn. Arfield and Dorrans might have helped, and as I wrote elsewhere, Halliday and/or Rossiter would have been a better and more direct choice than both Coulibaly and mainly Ejaria in the 2nd half.

The ref could have put a lit on things early on, but instead it was constant stop-start, tit-for-tat and at times far too pedantic or indeed, too lenient. People went mad about Black and his style of play, but that Aberdeen bunch could Ian a few tricks still. How Shinnie made it to the national team is utterly beyond me.

I thought Middleton lost confidence in the second half and should have been subbed but SG had used up all our subs. I'd love to see a midfielder who would have a shot at goal outside the area (or anyone!)

We really must sort out the LB position.

Presumably Barasic will be first choice when fit(soon hopefully) but we really need proper back up in the form of another LB instead of what we’re doing just now

I would not have dropped Halliday - he is far better than Flanagan.

I'll take the league thanks.

Strange knee jerk reaction ...

Just being realistic. If we were to win the league before we were really ready it could set us back. As often posited on here, we are a work in progress.

You saying you would be happy to win the league without getting at least one over on our greatest rivals?

Shinnie's doing the role for them now that Jack used to do - and doing it better at the moment. He is versatile. Not a bad player actually. He could fit in to the left side of our midfield. Not that I'm advocating we sign him.
