No politicians involved? pffffft

Mrs Murrell met Salmond twice in her house, once more in Aberdeen and talked to him twice on the phone in regards to this matter but refuses to reveal what was said.

The permanent secretary is a Westminster appointment. That being said no politicians would be involved in the actual enquiry. You say that Sturgeon has spoken to Salmond 5 times about the matter, yet refuses to say what was said!

I doubt Sturgeon would interfere with the enquiry, anyway let’s see what the police come up with.

Yes she refuses to reveal exactly what was said but conceded they were in regards to Salmond's ahem what shall we say predicament.

The First Minister has had 3 private meetings and 2 phone calls with someone her government was investigating while the investigation was live, let that sink in.

A westminster appointment you say, eh?

Or hand picked by Mrs Murrell herself?

The competition to succeed him was overseen by the First Civil Service Commissioner and open to candidates across the UK civil service, including in Whitehall.

Ms Sturgeon was presented with a shortlist and selected Ms Evans, who was born in Northern Ireland and has lived in Scotland since 1985. She is married with one son.

Presumably, their views will count. This, again, is of particular concern to the Liberal Democrats after the initial choice of the DECC Permanent Secretary two years ago had been backed by Ed Davey but was then vetoed by David Cameron, and a fresh recruitment process was started. (By contrast, the Scottish and Welsh First Ministers will have the final decision over the most senior civil servant in their governments.)

Selected from a list made up by the First Civil Service Commissioner in Westminster. Reading elsewhere that it was another civil servant that looked into, the Salmond allegations.

As I said hand picked by Mrs Murrell :D

The SNP civil war in the SNP between the Murrellites and the Salmondites is going to be joy to behold, of course it will be civic and joyous eh?

What side are you on? Given you take criticism of Elsie a personal slight I'd guess  you're a Murrellite.

NICOLA Sturgeon’s government flung in the towel over Alex Salmond’s legal challenge after the First Minister’s top aides were ordered to appear for a grilling under oath.

The Scottish Sun can reveal civil servants including Permanent Secretary Leslie Evans were quizzed on the sex pest probe in three secret court sessions held over Christmas.

Salmond spoke outside court

But the Scottish Government allegedly only conceded six days ago when lawyers demanded that Ms Sturgeon’s chief of staff Liz Lloyd and principal private secretary John Somers would have to give evidence at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

The pair had been due to be quizzed on Monday over who knew what — and when — about the fatal error of appointing an investigating officer who had “prior involvement” with the women who complained about Mr Salmond.

A source said last night: “It’s not clear if the government threw in the towel to stop Lloyd and Somers having to give evidence, but it does beg that question.

“They are the last rung on the ladder before the First Minister, who’s always insisted the first she knew of the inquiry was in April.”

What kind of self-deception does it take to be able to vote for the SNP while convincing yourself that you're doing it for Scotland?

Is it the same deceit that allows you to think there can be independence while being part of the EU?

The point I was making is that Sturgeon had to pick from a list provided by others, not a short list she made herself.

I’m on the side of the complainers.

It isn't a Westminster appointment though.  Sturgeon selected her.  She could have refused all candidates and sent them back to the drawing board.

You do realize that "appointment" means to select the person - dictionary.com has it as "assigning a job or position to someone" - in this case that was Nicola Sturgeon that selected her.

Instead of attempting to prove yourself right, when you actually can't - it would sometimes be better to accept that you got it wrong (not you specifically Bearger, goes for ALL of us).
