Do you ever have anything to say about the subject instead of the usual half baked sarcastic comment ?

Given That you dedicate your life to Gersnet, you'd have thought you might have something to say.

Was that a personal comment? In the Lounge?

Mmm...

Personal in that I was directing a question to a person.

The question referred to a sarcastic comment the poster had made about me (another person) in a previos post.

I'll admit to a little reverse sarcasm in the second line.

Buster, your constant referral to flags doesn't really warrant a reasoned response.  You seem to be suggesting that 17m Brits are flag-waving, jingoistic, easily-led morons and that Remain voters are somehow far more enlightened - it's all terribly simplistic and ignorant.

I have said on several occasions that I'm fully aware Brexit will have some negative economic impact.

I sometimes refer to flags because they are often the symbol of what is a very topical part of politics in many parts of todays world.

I don't suggest large chunks of the population are ignorant or that Remain voters are somehow far more enlightened.

As far as Brexit is concerned, I'd say HUGE chunks of the population (on both sides) are ignorant, including a lot of politicians.

We have the Blind leading the blind and effectively, a PR campaign based on mostly fresh air, that contains flag-waving trying to suggest a no-deal will be a wonderful new world.

Regional airline Flybmi collapses blaming Brexit uncertainty

Company statement

“It is with a heavy heart that we have made this unavoidable announcement today. The airline has faced several difficulties, including recent spikes in fuel and carbon costs, the latter arising from the EU’s recent decision to exclude UK airlines from full participation in the Emissions Trading Scheme. These issues have undermined efforts to move the airline into profit. Current trading and future prospects have also been seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, which has led to our inability to secure valuable flying contracts in Europe and lack of confidence around bmi’s ability to continue flying between destinations in Europe. Additionally, our situation mirrors wider difficulties in the regional airline industry which have been well documented.

“Against this background, it has become impossible for the airline’s shareholders to continue their extensive programme of funding into the business, despite investment totalling over £40m in the last six years. We sincerely regret that this course of action has become the only option open to us, but the challenges, particularly those created by Brexit, have proven to be insurmountable.

“Our employees have worked extremely hard over the last few years and we would like to thank them for their dedication to the company, as well as all our loyal customers who have flown with us over the last 6 years.”

Bmi Regional employed a total of 376 employees based in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Belgium.

Far easier to blame Brexit than their own incompetence as businessmen I suppose.

Suppose this is the fault of Brexit too?

I bow to your objective wisdom.

Why bother reading the company statement.

In fact why not just say Brexit is Utopia, you've convinced me !

I blame that bus slogan and Jacob Rees Mogg's spectacles.

Look on the bright side, once we've waited 4 hours to get through customs and paid slightly higher mobile roaming charges, at least there'll be more sunbeds available on the beaches if the residents of the Holy Roman Empire and Prussians are struggling to get flights.
