Corbyn - Labour's gift to the nation

I see no evidence that he is garnering the 'yoof' vote. This is crucial because as the core Tory vote is ageing, the next generation will not be coming up to replace it.

The next generation always comes up to replace it. All those late 20's early 30's with mortgage, pension that invests heavily in equities and bonds, ISAs, sharesave schemes etc etc, realise that Labour cannot be trusted with the economy. The cycle perpetuates and is no different now.

This is who the Bojo cabinet represents: not me and you, not the people. Why vote for someone who does not have your interests at heart? Why should the nouveau poor vote in the nouveau rich?

Oh yes, Adam Ramsay of Open Democracy, the Guardian, Eurozine, AlJazeera and EuroAlter - Totally unbiased. I expect he did a similar article about the Labour front bench of public schoolboys (in the Blair tradition) Lady Nugee, Diane (state schools are not good enough for my children) Abbot and Sir Kier Starmer and the rest of the Islington set.

Most of my stepson's generation cannot get mortgages thanks to the gig economy. in my day you could get a mortgage on 2.5 times your salary. Now, it's more like 10 times to buy a house.

'The Blair tradition' still infests the Labour party. It needs to be rooted out. Just because he is biased doesn't mean that the main point is wrong. Johnson is currently preparing to spend £1m per day of taxpayers money on advertising just so the tex evaders and avoiders can prosper.

We're constantly told that Tories are ageing and will disappear eventually but I'm sure similar things were said from the 50s onwards and it hasn't come to pass.  Ditto ScotNats claims about Unionists dying out.

The more you have to lose, the more you tend to focus on holding onto what you have.  21 year olds tend not to have much to lose.  50 year olds do.  All part of growing up.

Fair point. I have a house and a pension but I don't in the least fear losing either if Labour come to power though; it's not the likes of me which is the target.

And of course for socialists it’s all about targets. Which is why tax rates are so much more important than tax revenues ... because in socialism the class war is everything and tax is the principal weapon used to punish success and assuage envy.

Socialism and religion must be the most destructive diseases ever hung around the necks of men & women.

You ever seen Warren Beatty's film about John Reed, 'Reds' (1981)?  Jack Nicholson plays Eugine O'Neill and there's a scene where he compares Socialism with Roman Catholicism.

It's a great film but that's the best scene.

Found it:

Yes, he is that cynical. Now go and watch 'Ten Days that Shook the World.'

Avarice - not envy - was considered the most iniquitous of the Seven Deadly Sins: a vice displayed in abundance by Mr Mike Ashley (just to take a random example).

Cynical?  Reed returned to Russia and died.  And Russian Communism didn't exactly turn out to be a bed of roses.

I have read Reed's book Ten Days That Shook The World, which is an excellent read, despite lacking objectivity.

Russian propaganda is just that.  Lenin, Trotsky and co banned the free press shortly after getting into power, so we can hardly accept their version of events now, can we.
