Neil Lennon’s Hibs exit confirmed in statement by club who CLEAR him of any wrongdoing

HIBS have confirmed Neil Lennon has left Hibs by "mutual consent".

SunSport exclusively revealed last Friday night that Lennon had been suspended by chief executive Leeann Dempster.

His two-and-a-half-year reign as boss is over after a dramatic exchange with Dempster in the immediate aftermath of a full and frank summit with his first-team squad at the East Mains training ground.

Now after five days without commenting on the bombshell development, Hibs have released a statement to insist Lennon and his No2 Garry Parker HAVEN'T been sacked and HAVEN'T resigned.

The club CLEARED Lennon of any wrongdoing before going on to list his achievements at Easter Road.

In a statement on the club website, Hibs said: "The management team of Neil Lennon and Garry Parker has left the club by mutual consent.

"They have not been dismissed and have not resigned.

"The suspension, put in place to allow an internal review, was lifted by the club as part of this agreement.

"Despite widespread speculation, the club confirms that neither Neil nor Garry has been guilty of any misconduct or wrongdoing and no disciplinary process has been commenced.

"However, Neil, Garry and the club now consider that it would be in the best interests of all parties to part amicably.

"The club would like to place on notice its thanks to both Neil and Garry for their hard work and the success they have brought the club.

"Their period in charge has seen the club:

- restored to the top flight,

- reach the top 4 with a record points total,

- qualify for Europe,

- have their record season ticket sales since 1958

"Neil and Garry would like to thank the club for having faith in them when they were appointed in 2016 and for their support over two and a half years.

"They would like to thank their players for their hard work and dedication and finally, the fans for their loyalty and support over their tenure."

Easter Road chairman Rod Petrie said: “We are grateful to Neil and Garry for all their efforts and in particular for leading the club back to the top flight of Scottish football.

"We wish nothing but the best for Neil and Garry and their families for the future.”

Neil Lennon said: “I would like to thank the board, the coaching staff, the players and all the fans for making the last two and a half years so enjoyable.

"It has been my privilege to serve the club and I wish it every success in the future.”

Hibs will now step up their search for a new manager.

Gordon Strachan has distanced himself from the job, but reports have claimed that Scottish Cup-winning boss Alan Stubbs would be open to an Easter Road return.

HIBS have confirmed Neil Lennon has left Hibs by "mutual consent".

Is this a "...and is therefore not entitled to any form of compensation" type of statement?

Sweep sweep. Nothing to see here folks.

Or that's what Hibs will and Lennon hope you'll believe. Expect him to be back on a BBC sofa no questions asked pretty soon.

TLB will end up working for the SFA along with the rest of the ex ST Pats players!

I get the feeling that the agreement reached does involve no compensation in return for the statement of no wrongdoing.

Simpler and cheaper for the club to go down that route.

Wow! They must be totally skint. Although with the tidal wave that’s coming, he is the only reptile that would touch the job. Oh happy days:clap:
