One month of multiculturalism in Britain

It would be interesting to know the author and where his article was published.

Provide what you think would be balance ,buster.

What would be balance would be to provide a list of all the positives that have accrued from multiculturalism. I would suggest a cursory glance at the staffing of the NHS as just one example.

While in no way defending or commenting on the OP, most political posts that Buster, ASIL, Bill and I (and most others on here) make are unbalanced.

Guilty.

Undoubtedly.

So, asil, in your next denunciation of Capitalism we’ll see mention of some of its benefits. In the interests of balance.

Of course posters will tend to put forward their opinions or post articles that at least in part back them up.

But the difference here and the reason I commented on it (prior to the NZ attack) was that the unlinked article posted (I presume it wasn't Bill's words) actively looks to promote hatred of one particular group of people at a time when there is an extremely organised effort in so doing.

An example of the language the article provoked........"  yet we still let OUR country be infested with these vermin"

Capitalism and Socialism need each other.

The real problems start when one dominates, eg. Soviet Communism or todays Western Capitalism.

I will try but it's getting more difficult when first Carillion and then Intuserve hit the buffers, robbing the taxpayer of millions which could have been used to fund the NHS or provide schools with the funding they lack when academy heads are paying themselves exorbitant salaries.

As an aside, Marx did acknowledge that capitalism was a necessary stage for mankind to go through.

I would still take the dictatorship of the proletariat over the dictatorship of the few. You make a mistake when you view them as two sides of the same coin. As I have said many times the post-1923 Soviet Union should not be seen as the model of socialism/communism.

I think textbook socialism/communism is just that and up until this point, it's been shown that it is always corrupted.

I think the apparent balance that was worked toward between post 2nd World War and the early 70's was about as close to reasonable as we've had. I say that with the caveat that I'm relying on what I read, rather than events I can remember.

What I'm seeing with my own eyes wrt Neoliberal Capitalism is a developing situation that has taken the world to a very bad place on a whole host of levels, has no remorse and wants to continue on the same path because it is seen as benefiting those at the top. On the way it has corrupted and captured much of the media and politics.
