As January 1972 dawned, the month forever associated with the tragedy of Bloody Sunday, Lt Col Derek Wilford commander of the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, was one of the British Army's rising stars.

Yes, it is ridiculous.

 

The government should have ensured individual soldiers were covered by the amnesties that were being agreed around the time of the Good Friday agreement.

With the same government carrying any cans and subsequent claims found to have merit.
