Defoe must be watching on and wondering what’s happened to him that he can’t even break into this side

I'm not sure that would help, to be fair. It's the stage before the ball gets to the strikers/forwards that is letting us down.

His movement might bring something, though.

I think it would, make all the difference to have an additional player to aim for, pulling defenders here and there and creating space.

I’d second the call for Grezda. Not watching the game of course but Candeias and Kent have failed in the last two matches. Kent flatters to deceive and Candeias isn’t one for opening up tight defences.

We have three midfielders who are behind the ball all the time. One or two of them must make runs into the box to open things up.

The problem is that they are not that kind of player, none of them are offensive enough.

4-3-3 vs a well-drilled 4-5-1 again, with a few players not up for it now.

I'd hand Candeias and Kamara a rest, throw Lafferty and Defoe on and have one of them and Morelos interchange the left-wing position, with Kent going right.

We are not going to get anywhere then - just a repeat of Tuesday night.
