The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Recommended Posts

More like reading FF and checking the bookies.

Methinks the DR recently quote Teamtalk as a source of information, which tells you about the standards of journalism up there ... but in saying that, the DR journo crew will be somewhere down Parkhead way looking for mega-bucks stars flying in.

Nothing against Teamtalk, BTW, but they are just an info hub and do not really have - AFAIK - their own investigative journos.

Rangers favourites to land Daniel Sturridge on free transfer after Liverpool exit

BOOKMAKERS have slashed odds on Daniel Sturridge joining Rangers this summer.

Gers have been installed as favourites to land the free agent striker, who left Liverpool at the end of last season.

Sturridge's odds have been cut from 16/1 into just 6/4 to join the Glasgow giants before the transfer window closes.

More than 60 per cent of all bets have been piled on Ibrox being the ex-England international's next destination.

If we are trying to / have got  guys like Dorrans, Lafferty, Rossiter, Grezda, Hardie, Holt, Herrera, Dodoo and Wallace off the wage bill that must free up a few quid in wages, if you are talking about brining guys in on a free,  you could use the wages from that lot and bring in 2 or 3 players of a level above, like sturridge

You are ignoring that we have an additional 7 players that we have signed, 6 if you exclude Davis.  The saved wages you mention above have probably already been eaten up by the new signings.

Aye, but always bearing in mind that most of the saved wages aren't yet saved and in some cases (loans) will only be partly saved and in others will involve pay-offs that can be balanced against any incoming fees.

Summer 2020 is when quite a few contracts are due to expire.

I would assume that a Defoe or a Sturridge would not come for money.

Defoe has a contract with Bournemouth.

Sturridge should struggle to get a really big money contract anywhere unless it's weighted towards a pay for play clause.

Anyone wanting to part with say 60K per week for Sturridge deserves all that is (not) coming.
