Kilmarnock confirm Rangers' ticket allocation will be slashed to one stand

Is this not something that wouldve been discussed beforehand, between the clubs?

Looks to me like an opportunist gesture to curry favour with fans at ST renewal time that will ultimately be an empty one.

Who knows whom at Ibrox they phoned for a comment, if anyone at all.

Interestingly enough, our local basketball team Alba Berlin usually has attendance figures of 3 to 6.000 (on a very good day). Last Friday it was the 2nd leg of a 3-game series for some European Cup competition`s finals against favourites Valencia. Almost 14.000 people happened by, roughly 1k from Spain. Many of the 13k were actually clad in Alba attire and were cheering Alba on. Which obviously begged the question, where all these 10k are during the league season?

But we see this with various cup finals too, when e.g. Hibs take 25k or the like to Hampden, but rarely sell out their home ground.

Can't say what amount of tickets Premiership clubs are required to hand over to the opposition support and when watching games you clearly note that one or two full stands are handed to our support, usually filled to the hilt. The rest of the stadia are not exactly densely populated. If Killie hands us the required amount, albeit less than what we normally get, so be it.

HALF MEASURES

Kilmarnock fans ‘feel intimidated’ when Celtic and Rangers visit Rugby Park… that’s why we’re cutting allocation, says Billy Bowie

THE Killie chief revealed Old Firm fans will have their allocations cut for future matches at Rugby Park after it was announced yesterday that Gers will be handed just 4,000 briefs for the final game of the season

BILLY BOWIE has vowed to slash ALL future ticket allocations for Old Firm fans at Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock announced yesterday that Rangers will be handed just 4,000 briefs for the final league game of the season - half of their normal amount.

Rangers hit back by threatening to take less tickets for future games - a move which would hit Killie in the pocket.

But the Ayrshire club's supremo Bowie confirmed the measures will be permanent in a bid to improve the matchday experience for families at Rugby Park.

And he revealed the decision was taken to cut both Glasgow duo's ticket share after Celtic's last visit in February - when Kris Boyd was struck by a coin and punters spilled onto the pitch to celebrate Scott Brown's late winner.

He told the Daily Record: “We have spoken to our own supporters about it and there is a feeling that they are intimidated when the Old Firm sides come to Rugby Park.

“So we have decided what we want to do is create an environment for them on match days where they feel absolutely safe. We want them to feel comfortable bringing their families to any Kilmarnock game and that has not always been the case.

“After the last game against one of the Old Firm, we realised this was something that we had to discuss. We have had a lot of talks about it and this is the way we have decided to handle things going forward.

“We are creating a fan zone behind the Moffat Stand with a nine aside football pitch and we want Kilmarnock supporters and their families to come along and enjoy the whole matchday experience.

“We won’t be able to do that If we are giving that stand away to visiting supporters. So this is the decision we have made.

"We want to celebrate what our own club has achieved on the last day of the season but this is the model we plan to use going forward.”

That’s all good with me. I will not be happy if we ever take extra tickets again. Why did they not just cut St Pats tickets?? No problem with me although it’s an away game I like going to. However, 4K it is from now on and we take no no more!

What Bowie is saying in the latest article has developed from the initial KFC directors message of yesterday, which was.....

...

A message from Kilmarnock FC Directors Billy Bowie, Cathy Jamieson and Phyllis McLeish.

What has already been an unforgettable season for everyone at Killie still promises so much as we head into the final five weeks of the campaign.

Guided by Steve Clarke and Alex Dyer, our squad is challenging at the top end of the Scottish Premiership with the real possibility of breaking last season’s club-record points total.

As we continue our 150th Anniversary celebrations, we want to turn our final match of the season on Sunday, May 19 at home to Rangers into a celebration of all things Killie. With this in mind, we as a Board of Directors have made the decision to house Rangers FC supporters solely in the Chadwick Stand with Kilmarnock supporters in the remaining three stands.

Moffat Stand season ticket holders will be able to purchase reduced rate tickets for the Moffat Stand, priced Adult £15, Concession (Over 65s, U21s and Students) £10 and U16 £5. Our KCST team will have increased community games and activities on offer in our Family Fan Zone behind the Moffat Stand so get along early and join in the fun.

Kilmarnock supporters can buy a ticket for the Frank Beattie, East Stand or Moffat Stand priced Adults £27, Concession (U21, 65+ and Students) £19, U16s £10.

This is an all ticket match and home tickets must be purchased in person from The Killie Shop at Rugby Park. All away ticket enquiries should be directed to Rangers FC.

Billy Bowie said: “Kilmarnock FC is a family club and we want to make sure Rugby Park is an enjoyable and safe environment for people to enjoy watching football. As promised, we have worked with and listened to feedback from our leading supporters’ groups in a real effort to encourage and inspire the next generation of Killie fans.

“After the game we’re encouraging all Killie fans to stay in the stadium and watch one of the most memorable Killie teams in recent memory complete their traditional lap of honour complete with a few words from our manager Steve Clarke.”

A date for the start of home tickets sales will be announced in due course.

------------------------------------

The development appears to be that Bowie/KFC declare an intention to make it ongoing policy in matches against the OF.

It would still be their prerogative but financially it would be akin to putting a large bet on a rank outsider which if in the unlikely scenario you were to win, all you'd do is stand still.

Perhaps KFC were looking to see how things went, firstly with ticket sales for the last game of the season and then on the day itself before they made any further decisions but our reply has made him come out with his thoughts now, perhaps not.

Optimism on their part to think they can grow and maintain their attendances to a level to make up for 4,000 tickets x 4/3/2 in a season given that Clarke appears to be central to on-field performance and he won't be there forever.

Very Scottish fitbaw

Scottish football is dying and these silly people are cutting their own crowds and their own much needed income it's crazy the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

They appear to be prioritizing their own fans wishes/experience with the hope that they can can continue the recent growth in attendance which will offset the loss in away tickets sold when the OF visit.

TBF, you could compare it with us telling Celtic that they only get the corner. The main difference being that financially that wasn't really a risk and hence our board weren't going for a policy change that cut into revenue.

If Kilmarnock were to grow their average by a further 1,000, it would make up lost revenue from OF games.

Thing is, when results do tail off, so will their fans, as sure as night follows day.
