Why You Should Care About Trump’s War on Whistleblowers

Recommended Posts

Upholding democracy has been a major thrust of political argument on here for a while now.

With that in mind, here is a short but hard-hitting video that isn't just confined to Trump or the one side of the pond.

America isn't really a democracy.

Trump is a typical, well off businessman, who thinks he's above the law.  So it's no surprise to see him putting processes in place to ensure he is actually above the law.

This isn't only about the USA, it very much includes the UK, amongst many others.

Besides, we are essentially a vassal state to a rogue nation.

Corruption and self-interest are huge parts of human nature.

The talk of democracy on this forum often relates to two referendum results.  Yes or No questions asked of the people.  The machinations of government and the authorities are another thing entirely - far more complicated and impossible to fix.

You can't credibly isolate the importance of democracy to two referendum results and not bother about the rest.

What about the actual subject matter of the video ?

Short? It's 10 minutes long. :D

Watched the first minute which was all about some socialist arguing against US involvement in WW1 and I lost interest.

As for Trump, he's a dick and I'm against most of what he does, so I'm not sure watching a video is going to change anything.

I suppose that's why there called state secrets  not to br divulged to the public and people are put in a position of trust only to get a conscience and then betray his country,  they shouldn't be jailed that's all wrong and even cruel,  no they should be executed.

The first minute is background about how the Espionage Act 1917 was first used in the USA.

It moves on to how it was used by Obama and now Trump and the dangers that come with it.

Trump is only the current incumbent of the Whitehouse, the issue goes way beyond any one individual.

I wouldn't say I'm not bothered about the rest but there's a feeling of helplessness and/or hopelessness when it comes to politics these days.  America has too much influence on Britain and in many other parts of the world.  Globalism is killing off a lot of the aspects of party politics that gave people hope (albeit probably falsely) in the middle of last century.

I think the Scottish government's unwillingness to accept the first referendum result and the British government's inability to enact the result of the second referendum sums up where we're at.

Getting rid of whistleblowers or deterring those who would do the right thing, is one of the tools used by the global elite. It solidifies the social culture of fear which slowly spreads as democracy diminishes. Then we become insectified and will follow blindly, and conform without question to whatever truth is projected through the elitist narrative.
