Pundits who thought Clarke can work instant miracles with a team in transition, who aren't defensively secure or have a real centre-forward threat were being blindly optimistic. That said, we did get the win when in similar type recent group scenarios (eg home draw v Lithuania) we didn't. Given Nations League play-off next year.
