That kid could be the real deal. Good signing.

He has certainly been good any time I have seen him. How he left the guy from Oxford dead was also sublime. A pity he did not last longer.

A few years ago we’d have let McPake slip through our fingers. Things are slowly getting better. King, Allen, Gerrard and the rest of the team are due considerable praise. They seem to be taking the club where we should have been 25 years ago but didn’t have the vision or leadership to drag us out of the dark ages. In years to come we might yet enjoy a silver lining to the clouds of the admin years.

They obviously trust Ian McCall that he will develop them properly.  If it works for both teams it might become a popular route.

Interesting, means he’ll miss out on the youth champions league doesn’t it?

As per conversation we had on that, priority has to be developing the player for our first team.

He has 3 years on his new contract and no time should be wasted.

Year 1: First team football, 25 games or so at Championship level.

Year 2: Evaluate, possible offer of further extension and inserted into our first team squad (optimistic view)

First thing, he has to show he can hold down a first team slot at Ayr, which is more of a challenge than a handful of UCL games.
