[FT] St Mirren 0 - 1 Rangers (Barisic 59)

Recommended Posts

St Mirren tactics very effective but man, how brutal was that to watch.  They had 11 behind the ball until the final 10 minutes.. and yet, strangely, had a couple of half chances.

These are the games we struggle in so to get 3 points is all that matters to us.  The performance was fine, looked in little danger... but it’s very, very difficult to create chances against a 10 man wall.

What we would give for an Albertz right now

I thought St Mirren would come out when we scored. But didn't.

From where I was sitting.  I got the impression Gerrard wanted Kamara or Jack to overload the centre and have Barasic and Tavernier overlap on the wings.

We didn't do that in the first half possibly because of the sun as Helander seemed to have difficulty with high balls he had to attack. But when we did it at the start of the second half it led to the goal.

That’s what you call grinding out a result. Tight game against a solid looking team who I reckon have a decent manager. However quality won the day - also St Mirren don’t have the quality players to take chances like the one they missed at the end..
