Amber Rudd was a liability to the Tories and a disaster as Home Secretary as she presided over Windrush, unlawful detention and a rise in crime and had to resign in 2018. She accepted a role in the Government a few months back knowing from the leadership contest that Brexit was no1 priority and taking the job from Esther McVey.

If i was a conspiracy theorist i would think this might have been planned to embarrass the new PM, but knowing Rudd's abilities i doubt it.

A lot of us thought it was a huge mistake to give a cabinet role to the embarrassingly ambitious Amber Rudd. If there's a politician whose raw ambition exceeds their ability by a wider margin than Amber Rudd, they must be well-hidden.

I think she accepted a role in the cabinet just for the chance to resign and further disruption to Brexit  .

I don't think there's been a leader she hasn't used to promote her own profile. Odious woman.

I should add that, where I think Labour and others erred in voting to invoke article 50, is that they went ahead without having any clear plans from the government in terms of what the UK position would be.

This was also May's problem in that she did not consult with parliament or the devolved governments to build a consensus on what the UK's position would be.

Brexit has really been a clusterfuck of incompetence.

Defo, Article 50 should never have been invoked, until any government was in a position to deliver on its ramifications.

If socialism is such a good idea, why are there so many millionaires among the ranks of the Labour Party and Union leadership? ???

Good question and I agree. All segments of society need reforming from the bottom up. I'm as much opposed to the millionaires within Labour as the Tories. There should be NO outside interests, no lobbyists. Tom Watson for one should be kicked out the Labour Party for taking money from Max Mosley.

So, what you're saying is the Labour Party is a colossal sham, a den of hypocrisy where they promote socialist ideals but live as capitalists. Personally, I'm in complete agreement, except it's the socialist ideals that are bunkum and the root of the hypocrisy.
