It appears if I agree to feature in an SNP propaganda leaflet I'll be able to skip the queue !!! :o

Beyond contempt.

It’s a disgrace in itself. It’s a double disgrace that the SNP thinks there’s virtue in it. Morally bankrupt doesn’t begin to describe the squalid world of Scottish nationalism

When Aberdeen Royal Infirmary asked me if I'd be willing to go to Stracathro (Brechin) for my operation (I'd be more likely to be seen to quicker apparently) they omitted to tell me it would be in the back of a lorry in the car park and by horror of horrors a private company.  I hope it's at least the hospital car park and not the truck stop outside the front gate.

Just who's privatising Scotlands NHS Bearger who?

Is this really what Sturgeon has reduced Scotlands NHS to, there is no one more culpable for this than Sturgeon no one.

Nurse shortage forces NHS to use private operating theatre

An NHS operating theatre has been mothballed because of staff shortages and patients having surgery are being taken to a mobile theatre run by a private company.

NHS Scotland is paying to transport people daily almost 40 miles from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to have their operations at the temporary unit. One of the theatres in the hospital’s general surgery suite has been shut because the health board cannot find enough trained nurses to safely provide treatment there.

The Vanguard Healthcare Solutions theatre, in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital in Angus, opened in September and will provide general surgery and urology procedures for a year.

Willie Duffy, Scottish head of health for the union Unison, described the situation as “scandalous”, saying: “We are passing the problems from one area to another. We really need a fully funded health service with staff in post and there should be no role for the private sector in providing healthcare in Scotland. We have to think about the inconvenience for the patients.”

A private company is also moving into Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow to operate on NHS patients and reduce delays. NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde has refused to disclose details of the scheme.

Nicola Sturgeon has promised to keep private sector involvement “at the margins” of the NHS, but the number of operations by commercial companies has risen from 2,707 a year when the SNP came to power more than a decade ago to 4,360 last year.

The Vanguard unit in Angus has been sent in by the Scottish government and is operating on patients from Grampian and Tayside. It is staffed by a mix of NHS and private staff.

NHS Grampian said it had mothballed the theatre in Aberdeen two to three years ago “due to a substantive number of nursing vacancies”.

Bob McGlashan, senior officer for the Royal College or Nursing in Scotland, said: “This situation highlights the reality of the nursing and wider staff shortages being faced by NHS Grampian. Patients are having to travel for surgery that should be available locally. Scottish government must support NHS Grampian to recruit and retain the nursing workforce it needs.”

A Scottish government spokesman said: “We expect health boards to provide safe, sustainable care. We have been clear that it is unacceptable for anyone to wait too long for treatment and that is why utilising the independent sector, including the use of mobile theatre units such as at Stracathro, is part of our £850 million waiting times improvement plan.

“Use of the independent sector, which must meet established standards of safety and quality, will taper off as we build up capacity and establish sustainability at a national level.”

Miles Briggs, health spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives, said: “This clearly highlights the hypocrisy of Sturgeon’s position on private involvement in the NHS and the damage that the SNP’s mismanagement of the health service has done.

“It is entirely due to the SNP’s failures of workforce planning that patients are having to be bussed 40 miles away in order to be treated. This is obviously both expensive and disruptive to patient care.

“The SNP is in sole charge of the Scottish NHS, and they alone are responsible for the involvement of private firms.”

I can't comment on the standard of treatment, it might be wonderful, but the hypocrisy is staggering from the SNP. This drives a coach and six very large horses through the SNP fantasy that they alone are defending the NHS from the demons of privatisation. Really, the SNP is nothing short of both Scotland's shame and its ruination. What lack of self-respect does it take to vote for these people?

Surely it makes much more sense to hire some nurses to work in the theatre in ARI, than send hundreds if not thousands of patients on a needless 80 mile round trip? In my case it would mean a car doing 2 x 160 mile round trips and an overnight stay in Stracathro rather than an 80 mile round trip and a day case in ARI, it's the economics of the mad house.

Perhaps it's part of Elsie's plan to privatise Scotland's NHS eh Bearger? Oh that's right you can't see anything that doesn't show Elsie and her cultists in a positive light let alone comment on it?

You taken the nip with me? ?That’s 2 posts you’ve mentioned me in. You seem to make a good point about travelling or not for your operation. My view on the NHS is that no part should be privatised. The SNP is not a socialist party.

Just confused by your reluctance to appear in threads where the God like status of your Dear Lleader is shown up by the reality not the fantasy.

That appears to be at odds with the actions of both your Dear Leader and your fellow acolytes does it not?

And the 79 Group never ever existed did it ?

It was all a figment of the Unionists/Westminster/The Torys/MI5/MI6/Mossad etc..etc..

Very common, most if not all consultants have jobs in private Hospitals as well as working for the NHS
