Lewis Ferguson 'eyed' by Rangers as Aberdeen star impresses Ross Wilson

Steven Gerrard revealed last week a host of clubs are keeping close tabs on in-demand Ibrox star Glen Kamara.

Aberdeen standout Lewis Ferguson is on Rangers' signing radar after impressing the club's new sporting director Ross Wilson - according to a report.

The 21-year-old has become an integral part of Derek McInnes' side since joining on a free transfer from Hamilton and dad Derek and uncle Barry have both previously starred for the Ibrox side.

Rangers could even make a move for Ferguson if in-demand Glen Kamara is sold in January, claim the Scottish Sun.

Steven Gerrard revealed last week that the Finland international, who is contracted at Ibrox until 2023, is regularly being watched by a host of clubs.

Ferguson is the man who makes the Dons tick in the middle of the park and his absence was keenly felt during their recent 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Celtic.

And Aberdeen will do all they can if to stand firm an offer does emerge from the Premiership rivals with Ferguson under contract until the summer of 2024. The all-action star netted the winner against Rangers in last season's Betfred Cup semi-final.

New recruitment chief Wilson will be looking to put his own stamp on proceedings but Gerrard warned fans to expect more outgoings than incomings when the window opens.

The Ibrox boss said: “In terms of his role in the next transfer window, the squad will be made smaller in January.

“And what doesn’t change at Rangers is that if there’s something worth exploring which will make us better, we’ll try to do it.

“But don’t expect a lot of bodies coming in – that just won’t be the case."

It is but rumours and they all need listing for those who missed them ... and for having a laugh.

IMHO, if Morelos keeps on scoring and playing like he is, I would suspect better and greater teams than Palace may happen along. And whatever SG is saying, if they e.g. slap in 30+ million bids he will probably be off to the better league he is aiming for. So better be prepared and have a look at decent folk.

Can`t see Kamara leave just now, all the vibes coming from him / SG is that he is settled and loves the place.

Lewis Ferguson ... whatever he wants, McInnes and Aberdeen will rather puke blood and organs before letting the lad go to us anytime soon, even for ridiculous money.

I just don't see why they would do that with a title on the line when comparable bids would be just as likely to come in the Summer. Plus Gerrard has made his feelings on it clear and in a number of ways he may be even more crucial than Alfie. I doubt the board would want to risk driving a wedge between him and them.

.. yeah, true enough. Maybe we shouldn`t underestimate the player`s will here. If a club of some standing happens by, Morelos might be tempted and could well ask for the transfer himself. We know how desperate clubs in the EPL become in January.

That aside, it will depend on the fee. The Board might see us being debt free, business-wise fully flying and a loads of cash to spend on players ... and the probability that he breaks his leg in February and be out for a year or so.

I don`t want to see him leave, yet, I think we should be prepared anyway.

Morelos himself is the variable that most concerns me. But that aside of course none of us want to see him leave yet and personally if we win the league I want to retain him till at earliest January 2021 and preferably Summer 2021.

If we win the league his undoubted goal scoring ability may be the key to qualifying for the CL groups. And that would be a financial game changer for the club which surely has to be the major objective behind all the spending.

It's certainly the way I would be looking at it if I were on the board and given the evidence we have up to this point i'm led to suspect that there are noses every bit as blue as mine on that board. A CL cash avalanche and a tidy sum for Alfie.

A real game changer that would shift the financial advantage in our favour.

Lewis Ferguson is a no brainier. Head and shoulders above the rest at Aberdeen Given his background I can’t see him being anything but keen on a move. ABerdeen will drive a hard bargain but with the new stadium I imagine they also have some pressure to raise what funds they can.
