Labour Leadership Debacle

Recommended Posts

As an amusing back cloth to the impending Brexit celebrations, the Labour leadership campaign looks sure to offer outstanding entertainment. The fact that not one credible leader has entered the race means the spectacle can be enjoyed without reservation. Indeed, some of the candidates are such fantasists and liars that we can look forward to a veritable soap opera of farce.

Their take on indyref2 will be interesting.  You had McDonnell and Corbyn flip-flopping every time they opened their mouths in the lead up to the election.

No one outside the nationalist bubble gives a shit about Indyref2 any more, so it’s unlikely to occupy the limited minds of these candidates other than as a duly scripted tick box.

Their Scottish membership do, and thus so will the candidates.  There appears to be some debate among them about how best to address the ongoing SNP dominance at elections.  However I agree with the second part of what you've said having heard some of their "leaders" come up and speak on the issue.  Its clear they have been briefed and have little knowledge of the detail.

Not as entertaining as I had hoped.

Both Ian Lavery and David Lammy have decided not to go for the job.

A shame as either one would be a very entertaining leader.

Well they are down to one MP now, so i'd expect the overwhelming focus to be on the Northern constituencies they lost after decades of complacency. Just how Sir Keir Starmer and Lady Nugee hope to do this will be fun to watch.

I think Jess Philips and the Corbynite still want to overturn Brexit, though Philips has said a UK with Scotland is her preference. I think Nandy will get lost in the dust up.  Scripted answers will abound!
