[FT] Rangers 1 - 3 Bayer Leverkusen (Edmundson 75)

What bothers me most about games like these is that quite a few of our players never reached their of standard, form and level of ability - AGAIN. That was as dire a show from our midfield as we had this year, headless chickens, missplaced passes, completely devoid of quick-thinking, never mind quick passing. And all that taking the standard of opposition into account. So much simply went wrong without an pressure or because people were too hasty in letting someone else have the ball despite having acres of space in front of them and/or the recipient of the ball being covered. Staggering stuff ... in all the wrong ways.

If there was one chance where we might have hurt Leverkusen, it was quick counter attacks via slick and precise passing. We had but ONE quick player on the park in Kent, who like the rest of the midfielders has acquired a first touch of an elk in 2020. It got better with Kamberi and Hagi, who were seemingly rested for an Old  Firm game of virtually no consequence.

I fear that Tavernier, with that one good cross, might have got enough credit to get a start on Sunday ... man, he has been dreadful for ages now and gets in ahead of Polster or even Patterson.

I actually thought Kamara did well in spells and was one of the better performers when we came back into it.

Polster cost us the 3rd goal and gave it away needlessly a few times.  Hardly covered himself in glory when he came on.

Tavernier didn’t do much wrong tonight, at least defensively.  And offensively didn’t get much of a chance.

But some just have this want to throw him under the bus when it is unnecessary.

Simply outplayed by much better players , it’s not rocket science at this level , this team spent a fortune to top up the very good players they already had , We have players on frees and on their last legs , we can expect no more or no less .

When this team breaks up as it surely looks like it will , we should build it around Hagi .

I don't know. Hagi looks good so does Kamberi. How many times have we given a contract to a player playing well then nothing. Davis recently

Not throwing any players under the bus tonight. Maybe some of players struggled as they were up against far superior players?

None of players hid tonight, they were just up against class opposition

They were a better team than us, had better players than us and that showed tonight.

However, let's reflect on a wonderful European campaign where we have put Rangers back on the map and made the club some much needed money.

A couple of disappointing moments. Kent and Morelos were often caught flat footed. Davis continues to baffle with his back passes.

Can't be too critical of them though.

But they have been playing the same against SPFL opposition.

Why worry?

He's not the first choice right back and these things will happen.

If I'm not mistaken he isn't really a right back anyway.
